So i got sick and tired trying to get the old bushings out, i decided to get new LCA's from rock auto. The old LCA were beat up and soo ugly..

Painted my forks matte black, the rust protectant spray paint looks good!

ANDD for the big finally! I got a D16Z6 engine with tranny for 80 bucks! It knocks though.. I have to replace the rod bearings.. but im most likely going to build the whole engine top to bottom.. then slap a turbo on it... will start the processes this summer but will most likely try to finish it next summer..

    488.jpg

Parts come in tomorrow and i will have the wagon on the ground.. still have to finish the back end but i have to drive the wagon right now becaue m other car has the front ball joints failing... Im actually scared the drive the damn thing anymore, afraid my wheel will fly off..

so i have everything to put the front end back together now... i got the LCA in the mail and they arnt the same!! they are totally different LCA.. different style bushings and looks.. but ehhh F'it...
    532.jpg

AND i got new rotors :)
    533.jpg

I started right after work and got most of the prep work done.. I cleaned the fender wells a shit ton more... tried to get all the dirt and grime off.. then painted them..
    534.jpg

The tie rod ends were soo stuck same with the locking bolt... so i youtubed and a guy heated the bitch up with a torch and it came loose.. so thats what i did.. had my dad help with this one.. it finally came loose.. thankkk god! haha
    535.jpg

now it was time to clean the brakes... I went to the store and got some PURP degreaser and went to town with a wire brush and a wire wheel.. shit turned out spiffy!
    536.jpg
    537.jpg

Still gotta put everything back together and tear into the back end.. but i need to get some poly urethane for the back differential mount..

i still need new engine mounts.. it seems like every piece of rubber on the wagon is torn or horribly worn....

    610.jpg

now just fix the back end and get an alignment! but im going to try to fix the bumper this weekend and swap out the headlights.
  • SWAGOVAN_AKSWAGOVAN_AK Band Wagon
tore into the bumper today to fix my rubbing problem... the bumper frame was dented in from the front end collision...

    dented side

i searched around and found a guy with a sedan bumper, freshened it up with a few cots of duplicolor trim spray paint. Got two heavy coats on the lip and bumper after a quick scotchbrite and a tac rag, and it turned out very nice! and i replaced my headlights with crystal clear ones while i was at it. :)

  • Long time no update!! hah well ive been busy working and all this summer and trying to tear into my car is such a hassle because its my daily driver... so making time to do it was a struggle.. but i got some help and a place at my cousins house to take my car apart..
It all started about a few weeks ago.. the wagon started to blow out plumes of smoke, not that bad but it made me worried... so i checked my spark plugs and i had oil in the 3rd chamber.. this led me to believe that this is why my car is burning oil, or it may be a bigger problem.. so i bought a head gasket rebuild from oriellys and went to town! BTW this was my first time ever taking a head off of a car, and it turned out swell!!

I bought a Y8 head gasket from the honda dealer, i looked it up to see if it could work on an A6 and i got the gist that you could use it... but when i placed it up to the A6 it was totally different.. so i returned to damn expensive headgasket and went with the one in the gasket kit..

    648.jpg
    649.jpg

    TDC, marked it..
    650.jpg

    CRustyy ass head bolt
    651.jpg

the old head gasket was a bitch to get off.. it was caked on there.
    652.jpg
    653.jpg
    654.jpg

after some good time of a wire wheel, i stripped off all the gasket and made sure i didnt damage the head to much.. and i tested to see if the head was warped or not... it tested out to be fine!
    655.jpg
    656.jpg

so the head gasket was in good shape.. it wasn't leaking.. so my next thought was that the bottom O rings on the spark plug cylinders were shot... and they were shot for sure...
    657.jpg[/URL}
    Nastyy..
    658.jpg
    659.jpg

    the new O rings fitted!
    660.jpg

so when i was taking off my exhaust manifold, the two end bolts snapped off.. and one snapped of inside of the head.. so i went to the store and got a screw extractor, and 2 new head bolt studs.
    661.jpg
    662.jpg
    663.jpg
    664.jpg
    665.jpg

almost time to put it all back together!
    666.jpg

new door speakers.. the old ones were soo nasty..
    667.jpg

i replaced mostly all the rubber in the head... this was necessary because my car was burning oil and i have to make a 400 mile trip up north to attend another year at college... everything turned out swell..
  • hey what are those o-rings called if you were to go buy them? because I can't find them.

I just bought a head gasket rebuild kit from oreilys for 100 bucks, and they were in there! and you dont have to take off the head to replace them, just the rocker arm assembly.

Bumper looks good! How much modification was needed to mount it or was it just a bolt on type thing? And you use the bumper support of the si right?
  • Great progress! loving this thread..

there was no modification to put it on.. i used the wagon clips to keep the front lip that goes in between the headlights and the bumper.. but on the edge of the bumper where it meets with the fender, you have to cut the edge flat to make it flush with the lip. ya know?
but yea just bolted it easily

Thanks man! hah its coming along very slowwwly

i always liked hatch front bumpers on a wagon :D
  • Time for an update! yay! more wagon goodies... but lets start where i left off..

Soo college started and i drove the 400 mile trek up north to fairbanks again, and i kid you not i drove through the BIGGEST storm of my life.... rain was so heavy the road was flooding and my wipers couldnt keep the rain off so i could see... i had to drive on the high-center parts of the road because i would hydroplane if i drove in the water filled ruts... this was the only clear opening in the 400 miles drive..

    first snow fall!
    212.jpg

decided to spray paint my trim all around my windows and trim... i used plasti dip on the black trim around the windows.. i say it helped alot because the rubber was worn away.. then i used dupli color trim paint for the sides.. and did another coat on the bumper..

SOOOO!!! this dude is movin out of state and he posted a whole drivtrain for a 4wd civic on craigs.. talked him down to 400 bucks and i got the tranny, drive shaft, back dif, rear trailing arms, and a gass tank.. and he said he will trhow me a front and back wagon bumper for free! i still have to go pick those up..
