what could this be?

hey guys i need help diagnosing this problem im getting.

1991 wagon 4wd.

i hear a click noise from the right side of the car. possible more in the front of the car. just heard it for the first time today.

the click only happend on left turns.

on a straight: stopping, starting, accellerating = no noise.

right turns: = no noise

left turns: clicking noise. sometimes loud sometimes soft.

i drove on the freeway and didnt hear it at all.

so right now i dont know what exactly it could be.

my guess: cv joint or bearing

  • your guess is correct. you need a new axle. It will go like that for a long time though.

i thought it was the wheel bearing.

CV joint would be the most common cause for a clicking while turning and accelerating.

100% CV joint binding. get a new axle.

"i thought it was the wheel bearing."

I was referring to your first guess. :)

thanks guys. ill look into it later since its not a huge issue right now. i was just worried it was something else much worse. in any case for what i understand i can drive it till it falls apart more. it making the noise occasionally.
