My RT4WD wagon!

Hey fellow wagon members!! I recently got me a 1988 civic wagon that is a RT4WD model!!! soo stoked to get this, and it has little body damage and no rust!!
I had to get the front ball joints replace, same with the upper control arms, and the alternator.. now its go time for this! I was up at college when i bought her, talked the guy down to 1300! she has 262k and the engine was overhauled... got more parts comming in the mail.. some necessities like bushings and so on... well here is some pics!

oh yeH the guy before me put it on ebay coil sleeves.

    743.jpg

the back is dumped the furthest it can go and i still want to go lower in the future... what should i do? cut the springs or get replacements?

    744.jpg

    745.jpg

    746.jpg

my driver side tire is noticeably closer to the front bumber compared to the other side.. what can i do? adjust the radius rod that goes from the front subframe to the LCA?

    839.jpg

SO! my day goes bad to worse... the lower control arm wont come off the lower ball joint on the passenger side.. I got a puller and everything and i put to much pressure on the ball joint bolt and i squished the damn thing....
    840.jpg

it just wont come off!! i think im going to take the whole nuckle off and take it to a shop.

Looking good man! Any wheels you have in mind?

I was thinking stick with these old school enkies!! they have brand new all-terrain tread so ill be good in the winter and I think they are dope AF! but later on i want to go 16in or 17in rims... or gold 82 enkies, when i get my paintjob... Stock color is my plan, I know it'll be dope.

I finally got all my parts in the mail, bushings for the front LCS and sway bar attactchments, and for the rear differential mounts, trailing arms, compensators and upper control arms.. i took a trip to orileys and got new axles, outer steering arms, and a lower ball joint.. Now i just have to take the passenger side knuckle into the shop and get a new ball joint pressed, and get the damn lower control arm off the ball joint!!

  • nice wag yo.. I got the exact same one for 275. trying to her on the road wit some steez too.. I need some coil overs like you.. I want to go really low to but want the option to be able to adjust back up incase i want to hit up the mountain or supm ya know?

Good work so far. You should be able to rent a ball joint separator at O'Reilly, or just buy one cheap. I'm sure you already have, but keep the area sprayed with penetrating oil. Once you get the joint separated from the LCA there's just a snap-ring retaining the joint in the knuckle. It's not really press-fit, you can hammer it out.

As far as the difference in your front tires, look closely for something bent or loose. The radius arms you mentioned do control that, but aren't adjustable.

you got your wagon for 275 bucks??! im going to keep the back how high it is, the coil is dumped. and a little lower in the front.. and yea i live in alaska and the snow is a bit of a problem... but last winter i rolled around int my accord, which is on coils to, and it was fine.. One day i had to plow through some snow, lol.. but yea all new bushing, simple things needed to drive smooth.. im going to get new engine mounts and fill them with urethane.. when i idle my car shakes.

Thanks! I need these small upgrades. I did get a separator! It wasn't sophisticated enough, it bent my old ball joint..I sprayed it with PB blaster... put so much damn pressure on it and bent the bolt.. I got the other side off though.. the LCA is stuck to the ball joint.. Im bringing the whole knuckle in with the new ball joint to get it fixed..

And the driver side had a front end collision, nothing to bad, but others have said that my front bumper may be pushed in.. also going to swap my Hatch headlights to my wagon, they are light crystal clear! I got them off a parts car for cheap.

I went with the zc non vtec krate engine from japan under 50 k miles its in my build forum. I kinda wish i would have waited and gotten a d16z6 v tec but i might jus boost my zc effit.

Not sure what everyone's looking at but your wheel is fine. Your bumper is what's the problem

I wish i took pictures with all my college crap in it. hah all on a blown passenger shock on ebay sleeves. Filled her half way up with premium though, on accident. so the wagon has been out of commission for about a month now.. and finally everything is ready to be put back together.. but i want to upgrade my brakes to DA integra ones, rotors and calipers.. since the rotors have to get turned to be smooth, so why not just upgrade when you have everything disassembled.. 308.jpg

so i got new bushings from honda,, got OEM RTA bushings, I researched more and found out that the ES RTA bushings are crap.. and got new front LCA outer bushings..

The RTA bushings are pretty easy to flex from side to side.. is that ok? i got some plastic sleeves, honda recommended so the bushings don't squeak on each other.
    309.jpg

    I was bored.. lol artsy
    310.jpg

Wire wheeled my metal components.. like the forks and control arms.. turned out pretty well.. i got some rust protect spray paint.. havnt sprayed them yet
the one on the top is cleaned.. a before and after pic..
    311.jpg

then i got the wheel wells empty, rapped my alternator with a bag, put clean rags in the shaft openings, and sprayed diluted purple de-greaser all over.. i have rustoleum undercoating for wells.. hav't sprayed it yet either..
