Colorado Golddigger! MANSIZED BULLBAR!!!

Ok, starting the Golddigger build. I bought this car for $400 hadn't run for almost 2 years and needed a clutch. Put a battery in it and it fired right up! Did verify it needed a clutch, wouldn't even move itself. Put in a clutch, drive as daily driver for 6 months or so, figured out the vibration was bad u-joints on rear driveshaft. ENTER HONDACIVICWAGON.COM!!

Found thread for Rockford Driveline, ordered 3 u-joints and fixed it! Just installed a 2" receiver hitch from some kind of saturn, found on craigslist for $40.

You need to put a picture up of this hauling the sled around. That was tight. Cant wait to see more! Chop chop!!!
  • In for more details on this hitch. What saturn model? Year?
  • WagoDanWagoDan Wagonist
Thanks for the props! Okie, not sure what saturn the hitch came from but if I were to guess I'd say a vue? seems like a beefy hitch for any of the other models, I just bought it cuz it was a receiver hitch for $40 and came with ski racks and crossbars (that are too wide for the wago also). I was actually amazed at how little I had to "modify" just beat on the center mount tabs with BFH, and cut off little loop thingy on car hahaha.

did have one of those hitch balls that just bolt through that loop thingy, but it actually caused the body to flex enough that I had trouble shutting hatch at times with a trailer on it. now its nice to be able to actually adjust height of ball.

Hauled 10 bales of hay with it today, worked great!!

    More pics to come...

scored some stuff at the pull n pay this weekend, threw some tires on the 16's cuz I gettin tired of the studded droning on the road, fit pretty good before the lift, but still gonna lift it.. took some pics of fellow poser mr horsepower and his stanced wago, we headed in separate directions. still fun!

oh yeah towing single sled with hitchball attached to loop thingy under rear, didn't like it so mounted REAL hitch.

Gonzo (blue 87) build coming soon, but here is Clifford, 91 RT4wd automatic purchased today for $800!!! So fresh and so clean clean! Tranny slipping and they didn't want to put any more money into it so I bought it, put in 4-5 quarts of atf and slipping no more!!! SCORE!!! But does have a shudder from 1st-2nd and when turning corners, gonna flush trans tomorrow and reseal solenoid on top of trans, then evaluate and form a game plan, drove home very nice tonight.

Nice!!! I was thinking about trying one of those!
  • Ok long overdue update, got the 3" lift installed a couple of months ago, thanks for the outline 503wagon! Rides great but really let me know I need to replace some bushings. Wasn't too bad of an install either. Still the lift seems insignificant compared to Fool's Gold ha!

Looks great, Dan. What size tire did you end up with?

Watch the front inner CVjoints. I'm hearing a click from the right front with mine again.
  • Lovin the car! So where in the springs do you live my mom lives there and do come to see here but have no idea where the car guys meet up!! let me know if u have any idea.
  • Thanks Bam, that means a lot coming from you! The tires i daily run on it are 205/60r16, been happy with that size and actually ran the same before the lift. I have some 215/65 but they might rub on the knuckle, the 205s are really close now, the wheels are Borbet and not sure of the offset. I haven't noticed any issues with the CV joints yet but I will pay attention, gotta do a poly bushing kit next, rear trailing arm bushings are hella trashed! lol I used some VW strut mounts to replace the Diff mount bushings.

R/Twago I live just east of the springs and work in town everyday, I am older than most of the kids and their helladumped krunk stuff but always check em out to see if I can steal any ideas! My cohort Mr Horsepower is of younger generation and is better tuned to that scene... lol ! let us know when you coming to town and we'll meet up!
  • Ive got an '86 wagon, still looking for the illusive '88-'91 body style. Where in Colorado are you from?
