Haha NICE! I'm surprised you got that engine bar'd. I've read that you cant bar b20 because it belongs to a bigger sized suv. but thats super sick you got it bard.! and that plug thing in the back is the Rear Wiper Motor slot.. Mine looks exactly the same since I painted my car but I took it off to do a better paint job.. Just havent put it back on yet

Cool wagon! The B20 clears the hood fine? When did the Bureau of Automotive Repair start accepting "JDM" engines as legal swaps in California? I always had issues come smog time when I lived there. Good job though so far though. I don't see very many black wagons, if any.
  • Ya that's why I am goning black I searched for a while and found only one. It should be a pretty car here soon I've got pretty much zero bills and lots of time
  • Ya it clears the hood by about a half inch... if you can tell on one of the pictures there is two dents on the hood they are from the radiator cap and a bolt that was was holding it on. I adjusted how the rad was mounted and not dont have any troubles. Dents will be fixed soon enough
  • The b20 was set up as the b18a1 and depending on the person checking out the car to give it the sticker- decides if it will pass or not
I have had both a cool tech and a prick it really just depends.

Great work man the b20 is a fun motor!
  • Ya im loving it... i had a real strict guy the first time i went and he wasn't allowing it at all. He gave me the whole I have seen you in here before so you should no better speech and on my way out I exchanged numbers with one of the trainees. He texted me a week later and told me that guy was fired and to try a retest and sure enough the next guy allowed it. They said that the rules have changed and they are allowing it as a replacement motor. So its not classed as a light truck motor anymore... wait i think it still is classed a a truck motor but they made a change in that you can have it in your car. At least they are allowing it in Sacramento. Ill give you guys all the details on the place if you want.
  • what computer are you using for the swap , looks like a very clean swap atthat !

Hmm.....I would like to more info than.I might just have to take a short drive.
  • Im thinking, it sounds like it might be worth a little drive, I wounder if they would allow the b20Z ???
  • Im sure they would.
  • Well i cant find a page on the website where the address is but you would have to call to make an appointment there anyways. When i called They gave me a few different stations to choose from and i chose the one on florin road. I believe that's what the name of the station is. the Florin road station.

Updates... Money was redirected to a few priorites like a motorcycle crash, my girlfriends motor blowing and college, but im back on track.

Got some goodies yesterday from pick and pull and a friend.

14" civic HX wheels. ( not my ideal shoe but i got a great deal on them with brand new tires and I think I will give em a try).
-any suggestions on paint. I wanted to stick to my plan and go black on everything but maybe some color is in order

Man I'd love to take a ride in your wagon and see how it feels with that B20. Congrats on getting things legit. Oh, above you were asking about a hole and it was mentioned that it's for the rear wiper. If you want to fill that hole you can just take a round plug that you'll find in the underside of your hood and use that...it fits and you can just glue it in or something. I saw another member on here do that and he said it was a near perfect fit. I may even have an extra one lying around somewhere.

Ya all the emissions are stock from a 90 integra... In my honda tech build thread a guy said he got one reffed recently. They are considering the b20 as a replacement for a b18.
