Short in my Radio, need help!

When i got my wagon it had the stock player in and i never got the code to activate it so i was forced to put an aftermarket radio in it. The problem i am curently having is every so often the radio will just shut off and turn back on! Its pretty random and somedays are better than others. Only thing that i notice is whenever i hit the brakes, turn lights on, open door it does it. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this at all.

    Check the voltage going to the radio, sounds like it might be dropping too low. I've had the same symptoms with a bad alternator.

    Mine does the same thing when the battery terminals get loose. Nothing else seems to be effected except the radio. It mainly seems to be the positive that works loose.

    Have you made sure that none of the wires got pinched when you put the unit in? I would also check the fuse just to make sure it isn't blown and arching.

    Thank you so much, these are all great suggestions to try this weekend. I have rechecked the harness behind the radio for any pinched wires or faulty connections! Also i reran my ground wire straight to chassis instead of through the harness. Still having the same problem, i'll try messing with it somemore!

    Clean your Battery Terminals and your ground to the chassis off the battery... this used to happen to me also

    I have cleaned my terminals and replaced all the ground wires with new ones. The radio problem has completely dissapeared......such a happy camper right now ;)
