PorterWagonneer Wagons

Ok starting this for a friend since his forum skills are not up to par.
So I seem to get the blame for a lot of things so I'll take the blame again.
Years ago, I got him in to crx's. Yep I got the blame.
So he tells me he needs something bigger so I show him my wagon.
So he tells me that he needs a wagon.
I hook him up with Bam-Bam.
Bam sells him a wagon.

So I got a call the other day. Need help.
My son likes the wagon due to it being auto. We need to find another one.
So the search went on.
Well as of last night I was up in Rome with Pat picking up another one.
1988 civic wagonvan. 5 spd plain brown interior

Needs some TLC but the body is straight.
Rode really well on the way home.
Things I noticed that need to be fixed or addressed.
1. smelt like an astray.
2. hunting idle
3. needs passenger bubble window
4. hatch hinges ( I've got him covered on that)
5. wagon bars
6. various small interior parts
7. driver fender molding
8. driver regulator
I know we needed to fix the brake lights. All the bulbs were blown as well as the switch.
We got running lights on it last night.
He fixed the switch this morning.
I'm sure there is more

Half a bottle of orange citrus cleaner, a bunch of rags and several hours of labor have removed twenty years + of cigarette smoke, but as they say; The smell remains the same. Will have to remove everything and pressure wash it all.
Replaced brake switch & now have functional brake lights.
Swapped out the ignition switch & now can reliably start the car.
Lots more to do to get it close to being presentable, but not tonight.
Like I said bring it over one weekend and we will strip the interior and do a good clean up.
I've got the hinges ready for ya.
I found them yesterday.
RBW & Bam-Bam may have let the genie out of the bottle; thanks guys!
Rear hatch hinge has been replaced; thanks Richard!
so has the smell gone away yet?
My car smells like a fleet of immigrants...now bbq'd immigrants...
Found a butane lighter on top of the heater/ac controls. Reminded me of a welder I used to work with; he would hide bottles of vodka all over his house & in his tool box at work.
Never know when you will need to pull the dash apart so you can light up your cigarette.
Getting cleaner but the stank is still there.
Keep telling myself to take pictures but then how does one go about downloading 35mm film?
I'll post them up.
any more news on the wagon?
Seems to be a tradition in the family.
When Bam goes out of town for his anniversary trip I go steal the car dolly.
This time it is not for me.
Fullthrottlefreak had placed a 89 civic wagovan for sale on another site him and me are on he had found in Rome in the back of some guys yard.
Well technically it was sitting near a bogg.
Grey wagon with grey interior.
So after me, PorterWagonneer and another friend loaded up my Land Rover with tools and the dolly we went to go get it.
We were under the impression, we were scrapping the body if any damage.
Well that backfired cause it looked really good once we washed it at the car wash.
Here are the before pictures.
Here is what it looked like after we put rear wheels on it so we could get it home.
Also spending about $10 at the car wash.
We blew so much crap out of it.
Once we got it home. We decided to push it into the garage and then Porterwagonneer could work on it.
Discussions with his wife ended up with What we gonna do with the cream one. I said if all else fails I’ll buy it. That at least help with anything else.
My buddy Ryan will be picking it up. I even thought of swapping all my stuff into the cream one. But then it does not match my 89 si.
Porterwagonneer will be updating from here.
Ryan just left here...maybe 2 monsters.
could not get a title 5 years ago when he could not get intouch with past owner.
So he parked it in the back yard.
He is busy cleaning etc.
We found some mold in one place so I told him tilex.
He is cleaning and probably making a list.
He has my motorbike jack to replace the fuel pump since it is not priming.
Car turned over right there in the guys yard.
We had it fire up on a can of starter fluid.
There is a guy in alabama got one for 800.
Looks to be in decent shape for just sitting outside
That one was sitting in a bogg/ swamp.
with various other cars. Had some wrecked and some cool ones.
He had two complete integra's there.
He was telling me between him and his dad has roughly 500 or so cars just sitting.
He said he has quiet a few honda's just sitting.
Had a solid ecu code light.
Come to find out.
looks like sea shells in the bottom.
I gave him my pm5 ecu. It is an auto ecu, it is throwing the code that is looking for the lock out.
Installed new alt belt. The old one was one rib wide. As meatloaf might have said, "One out of three aint bad."
Started it up (idles a bit high 1100 -1200 rpm) & got a solid fault light. Pulled the carpet back & see a high tide line on the the ecu cover (can you say Katrina?). Pulled the ecu (see the pic above) & started making calls....Amazing that it would start and run. All my spare ecu's (PM5-A5.) are for my sons' auto crx. Get code 19 - lock up solenoid valve; looking for a signal that is not there with a manual. Same with ecu from Richard.
Again a visit to the great and powerful bam results in the proper part/ecu(PM5-A0.). Swap in the donor organ ecu & NO CODES! Still idles high. Then it gets close to pegging the temp gauge (210F in radiator); fan does not switch on (radiator is full of fresh coolant, thermostat is open, coolant flowing, bled system). Call it a night.
Today. Both fans work/run when direct wired to battery. Ran out of daylight.... Tomorrow will chase more wires.
Wishes were horses I could read a schematic.
