^ Dont bother, anyone who has played with the stock honda carbs will tell you all they acheived was sepending lots of money and ending up with an engine that used more fuel, ran worse and didnt go any faster.

Would be better off getting a manifold made up and using something like twin 38mm side draught Webers, or something.

Would be better to get ITB's lol

Haha yeah that would look pretty sick :)

Got the new shocks in yesterday, still rides at the same hight (for now) but its so much stiffer! i feel every inperfection in the road.. :P

So by next friday i will have lowered it and put on my rims, then i will post some more pics of it

I hope you have EF Civic Rear shocks rather than shuttle or lowering it wont go very well.

EF lowering springs with DA perches on shuttle shocks lowers it like my shuttle :)
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
    But are they captive?

This is the rear? When i put EF lowering springs on Shuttle rear shocks they are uncaptive by about 100mm
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
i have ef civic adjustibles, they are a xyz product, i guess ill find out next friday :)

Oh and im not going to NIMM because ill be lowering my car that day and i cant afford the petrol money haha, damn registration.. :/
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
will probably have to bust out the old baseball bat to ahh.. tend to my guards aswell ;)
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
Ahh yep XYZ will fit good, you will find once you lower it you get heaps of camber so may not need to touch the guards. Depends on your tyre choice.

My 15x8" +35et wheels with 195/55 tyres and 5mm spacers fit on the front with heaps of room
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
oh really? sweet, that will save some effort, i have 15x8" +25et wheels with i think 195/45 tyres, i will double check that though haha.

I wanted big stretch but it wasnt as much as i was hoping for... still look better than all other wheel sets ive owed :P
  • NZ-DB8RNZ-DB8R Moderator
Should fit fine as long as you are low. I have camber correction on the back meaning I only have -.5degrees camber rather than the -3.9 it had on stock camber arms. Even with almost no camber the 15x8" +30 just fit
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
well i definatly plan to go as low as i can go :P

Yeah your shuttle looks really nice man, i just read through your build thread :) Whens the next update?
  • Thanks, update hopefully tomorrow :D

Look forward to seeing yours low and on the new wheels. Good to see so many NZ Shuttles, 3 years ago when I got mine there was none

Heres a few photos of a cruise my mates and i went on. Was so suprised.. the shuttle was more powerful than the e30.. lol.

I still want to take it lower, at the moment its as low as the adjuties will take it, but apparently i can get some keeper spings to take it lower, if i could get an inch lower that would be about perfect.

Anyway heres a few photos that my friend Chris took.
  • SiRgeSiRge Wagonist
Get 1inch extended tophats and you're away laughing :) Keeper springs are meh, more to go wrong.
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
oh yes.. how hard are they to come by? id definatly be keen :P
  • You can make them or buy them. I run them in my shuttle, my brother modified the OEM ones. I think front extended 25mm rear extended 40mm

    that wheels are sick! hahaha.
  • SiRgeSiRge Wagonist
Andrew, you used EF koni's with sleeves and keeper springs, with 25mm extended fronts and 50mm rears correct?

Id say you would need sleeves and 50 fronts and 75mm rears if thats the case? I'm putting my in the front with 50mm extended top hat, so i'll see how I go :) Can get them modded to suit regardless
  • ^ Yea cant remember exact measurements on tophats, they are in my build thread. Front has no keepers and can go about 25mm lower, rear is running keepers and is as low as it can go.

He is running XYZ coilovers though, are you sure they are for EF? sounds like they might be EG ones if thats as low as they go? You should be able to wind the bottom section of the shock body up to meet the spring perch so that way your spring stays captive and you go low

Those exact ones would fit my shuttle then?

i would like to take it about 30mm lower all around, how far do keeper springs averagely lower it?
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
Yeah im sure they are ef coilovers, and they are wound right up, as far as they can go without doing anything to the spring
  • SiRgeSiRge Wagonist
So get 4 30mm tophats made and put them in, if it's too low then you can adjust the bottom adjuster a bit higher to suit :) Also means if you have to raise it 20mm for cert, you can easily, then winde them back down again afterwards :P

But for koni's/normal shocks probably 30-40mm front and 60-80mm rears at a guess would be the go id say? Im doing 50mm front and 90mm rear so I'll see how it goes for mine at least. Might have to raise it and put in like 30 and 70mm if it's too low however
  • FATHOEFATHOE New Wagonist
oh true, well i emailed the company i bought them off to see what options they would have to take my car lower and they suggested softer springs, but that just seems like the expensive way to go to me, i like the idea of extended tophats because then id just get like 70mm ones made so i can go super low and then i can just wind them back up when its just impractical.

Do you have any suggestions of where to get these made?
  • Any engineer shop can make them, you will need to supply your OEM ones from your stock suspension, search the suspension section of this forum and there is a "how to" for making them.

Softer springs wont lower your car just make it handle worse as the struts will not be valved for them.

    Just a quick photo edit.
