My first 91 civic wagon rt 4wd plus new addition 8/29/11

ok i picked thid up about 2 months ago and i finally got it running and got around to taking some pics for everyone. This is my first wagon and so far how you see it is how I got it. I have not taken interior pics yet but the inside is extremely clean. It is a 91 with 177k on it and it currently has a z6 swap in it. I acquired it and fixed the blown head gasket and I have been trying to redo little things for now until I decide what kind of build I want to do. I need some opinions here so please just throw some good ideas out there. I also have a few questions and here they are
1. do I ditch the window tint or leave it alone? it looks ok but it is illegal in Alabama to be that dark haha
2. those are 17 inch wheel, they don't look to bad I just thought about changing the color of the wheels what do you guys think?
3. Does anyone know if that spray tint comes off and if so how is the best way to do it? it's the tint on the tail lights
4. What are some good all around swaps that will allow me to keep AC, I'm not concerned with power steering but in Alabama AC is a must for the kids and myself.
5. Any good suspension upgrade options, car is on cheap ebay coilovers :-(
any additional info would be great
on to the pics

that thing is gorgeous besides the tail lights and the white wheels. as for your questions it all depends on what you want out of the car. search around this site and you will find a lot of useful information about a few of your questions

hey thanks I appreciate that. I was debating on re powder coating the wheels either black, gunmetal grey or even a dark bronze and ditching the white. Yes the tail lights are not for me haha. They were cool for about a day to get a laugh out of but I'm not for them. As far as swaps Im up for anything, I've been reading on all the difficulties about so many different swaps so I'm leaning towards just keeping and modifying the z6 especially for now with gas going up.

    Very nice.

Keep the tint , lose the wheels

I'm not a fan of EVER altering lights.

The z6 swap is about the best thing I can think of for the RT wagon, since you must stay Dseries. That's what I'm building for my RT.

finding tail lights seems to be the problem haha because I want to replace the "got rice" ones
  • can't you just sand the tint off the tails? i did it to my sisters fronts after she bought it, just make sure you have some fine grit to finish it up of they will look hazzy. The motor you have is a great motor, if you don't have an intake that'll make the most difference for the least money and if you already do then do the mini me swap. those are my thoughts, i'm not a big fan of wheels larger than 15's on most honda's but but a repaint might look nice, If i were you, i'd sell those wheels to some local yokal then spend the money on some other wheel. If you keep em, tone down the color, again just my opinion, I think your wagon looks good now, but will look great with just a few changes. If you wagon rides like crap you might have blown a strut, ebay coils are pretty bounce on stock struts i hear.

my first changes will be to the wheels and the taillights. I have a set of si wheels I hand sanded and polished to perfection but I have one wheel yet to finish but I'll get them done and see how those look. I am also going to wet sand and buff the tail lights for now and try to make them as good as new. I'll post pictures of the progress

sanding painted tail lights suck :-(. However they will look so much better

haha I think i'll keep this for a while. The tint on the tail lights is coming off as I have one done already(what a pain in the butt it was). The tint will go to legal tint or maybe one shade darker just because. Wheels will be swapped out but for now they work great since they have new tires :-), and yes the Z6 will be staying in there for now as it is working out great between power and gas mileage

ok I have some updated news on the wagon. I got the interior cleaned, my si wheels all hand sanded and polished I just have to get 2 tires to put on them. I got new axles and tie rod ends put on so the car is driving MUCH better. I've got some pretty bad squeaking in the front so I have a few more bushings to replace. I've got some of the tail lights all sanded so it looks much cleaner but I have to finish a two of them still. I had the ac and power steering working but I'll be danged if they both went out on me today :-(. I'll post my interior pics asap

O I almost forgot I am going to be purchasing a set of Tokico Whites here very very soon and I'll be rid of the cheap ebay setup soon enough. If I buy the ones for a crx is that going to be ok or will it matter from a crx to a sedan?

ok it's been a while since I have been on here but nevermind the reason for that. I have aquired some new shoes for the wagon and got them put on. Now I need to get some new lugs and also polish these up a bit. I don't think they are the best looking wheel for a wagon but I got these for a steal. I also got rid of the tinted tail lights by sanding and polishing mine out. Now all I have to do is re clear these and I will be good to go. Here are a couple of new pics

    Looking good.
J mags always look good on 88-91 civics.
  • ccareyccarey New Wagonist
yeah there not bad at all. I personally love the wagons with wheels that have a good lip on them, they look amazing but hey I got these J Mags with new tires on them for like 200 bucks so I will not complain. They will certainly do. I think I will work on some fog lights next

just updated the front brakes and rotors along with axles and wheel bearings and lower ball joints. While I was working on the old red rt I get a text about a wagon shell for sale just down the street from my house. I knew the wagon so of course I jumped on it. The body is very very straight but of course the interior is a little rough but for 300 bucks I snagged it. So here are a few quick snap shots of the new addition
and there is a front bumper but its currently in the car.
Not sure what to do with it at this point but hey if anything it's always great for parts wright?

ok since I am waiting on some stuff for the 4wd I decided to start some cleaning on the 2wd so here are a few more close up shots before I started cleaning and one shot of the inside rear quarter panel that I started cleaning on. Hope to have it cleaned by the end of the weekend and have it sitting on some si's but we will see how the weather goes since we have some hurricane weather approaching
