89 rt buld thread, finally!

ok guys i finally made some time to start my diy rust repair lol on my wagon. So please be aware its my first body challenge, and im doing it the best that i can, untill i can get it up to mrm3 in indy :). so to start it off i had to fix my shift knob situation411.jpg412.jpgahh much better i also decided to take my extra valve cover and wrinkle it413.jpgi also jumped on downstarinc.com grabbed a liscense plate bolt kit and some valvecover spikes, not the best pic of the plate bolts, and havent installed spike of valvecover yet.414.jpgand here are a few of me doing the grind!415.jpg416.jpg417.jpg418.jpg419.jpg420.jpg421.jpg422.jpg423.jpg424.jpg100_0032.jpg425.jpgthats all i have for the body work sadly :/ untill next week, maybe in a few days, need to throw a catalyst on it to help seal and prevent rust then some body filler! im actually pretty pumped, wont be the prettiest, but it will do temporarily. and heres a quick shot of my set of 5 bmw bottlecaps that i hope to start on soon as well. gonna go white and thought about possibly mixing some gold pearl into a clear and spraying it with that, still undecided on that.426.jpg also alot of the jagged edges on the quarters i trimmed off, just didnt snap any shots of it.

ok guys heres a bunch of pictures for my next update. what i did was spray some krylon rust buster on the exposed ground/sanded areas, let it sit for over 24hours. its suppose to stop rust so it must have a catalyst in it. as far as i know you can buy the catalyst by its self. kinda trying an experiment here with it. hopefully no rust comes through, i guess ill find out. i used a short strand fiberglass filler mix, very easy to work with(i hope it holds). filled, cheese grated, sanded. then covered with lightweight filler, then sanded. thats as far i got. its not perfect, its my first time and i even noticed a few surfeace rust areas that i had not properly looked for. I have not decided if i want to try and grind/fill those yet. Hard to find time with a hater for a gf and twins lol.834.jpg835.jpg836.jpg837.jpg838.jpg839.jpg840.jpg841.jpg842.jpg843.jpg844.jpg845.jpg846.jpg847.jpg848.jpg849.jpg850.jpg851.jpg852.jpg853.jpg854.jpg855.jpg856.jpg857.jpg858.jpg859.jpg whoops forgot to mention i threw my ottlecaps on, and man i love how they look on it. think im just gonna keep them silver but freshen them up a bit. next step in this build process is some 220 grit wetsanding, and im gonna try the not so classy but very cheap rustoleum paint job(not rolled but sprayed). Also plan on freshening up the black moldings as well. i just want the car to look fresh and presentable, not old and rusty lol still plenty more work to be done! p.s. not sure if i even got pictures of the lightweight filler sanded! ill make sure i get some tho! thanks for looking guys.

ty im no pro that for sure! its my first body repair and i have to say, if you have the tools and a somewhat artsy side, these kind of things are for you! its takes time though. im honestly loving it. The only thing i can tell anyone is, do not be afraid to fail, with body filler, you can always start over. even a halfass cover up is better than rotten cancer! lol only my opinion
