The progression of Debra

Well being on a limited budget I feel I've gotten a bit done since I've only had her since late October. Let me know what you think.

Found some Tokico Blues with Nuespeed springs at the junkyard for $85. They were from a 1988 civic hatch, so the rears wouldn't work so I sprung for a new set for out back.

Did a new headliner. I really like the pattern plus it's a crushed velvet :). I also fixed the roof thunderstorm every time I closed a door with some 2x4 and liquid nails. I wrapped the visors too, not great, but they look better than they did.

Also fixed some surface rust behind the plastic piece in the hatch. It's not perfect but at least it won't rust through now.

Got my rear speaker pods in the mail yesterday. So happy I was able to find some in blue. Now I just need some speakers.

Plus a few other stickers and what not in and on the car. Put on my Honda Civic wagon.com stickers as well. Note the inflatable shoe with Domo on top. I don't understand it but I think its pretty darn cool :)

I'm a little torn on what to do next. I'm either gonna put a stereo in it or get a set of wheels on the cheap. I told the wife one or the other then I would hold off on buying anything for a while. Lets take a vote. Stereo or wheels?

Bigger wheels imo. Great start so far!
  • id go with wheels too. where did you get the homer sticker? wasnt that laundry soap or something like that? thats funny.
  • looks great!
  • nice i say get whatever comes up cheaper first. if a set of nice cheap wheels come up first... get that or if u bump into a nice stereo for a good price jump on that first... be an opportunist i say . lol
  • Ha yea it's Mr Sparkle a cross between a fish and a light bulb. As Bart said "there's your answer fish bulb". I'm kind of a giant simpsons nerd :). I found it on eBay 4.95 shipped plus it's a pretty high quality sticker. I've never seen this sticker on a car before either, so that's a big plus in my book.
  • Nice! another Washington member haha. I'd say depending on how crappy the stereo in your car is, get new wheels first.

Another vote for wheels. Car looks clean! That headliner is sick! Nice job on those visors to match. Keep up the good work man!

Well I don't drive it everyday its my weekend car, but the stereo is terrible. I would say a mid 90's tape deck with just the front speakers. Wheels would defiantly help with the look, but I'm very music oriented so the stereo is also a big deal. I think I'm gonna go with slide7229 and just see what pops up. Being poor sucks :p

How do you like the ride of the Tokico blues?

It's not the best, but I chopped 2 coils off the back to make it sit more level. I'm not a big fan of chopping springs, but I figure I'll move on to a good set of coilovers in a year or so. That and they came from the junk yard and I'm not gonna be out a ton of money. I think since there is so little travel in the back it can get pretty bouncy at times. It's not the roughest riding car I've ever owned, but a very close second. I'm not sure if its the springs, I had a set of H&R's on my RSX and they had a very nice ride, but not a very aggressive drop. It handles so much better now and that's the main thing I wanted, plus it looks better lowered.

hey been lookin for pods for forever where did u gettem from?
  • Ebay. They came with no brackets or screws, just the pods. Which I wasn't thrilled about, but what are you gonna do. They are in pretty good condition though. There is a really good how to install them on here that will come in handy if I ever get some speakers for them. Just keep watching ebay, I've seen a few pop up on there but I really wanted to hold out for some blue ones to match the car. Mostly I've seen the darker gray ones. Just be patient and be ready to spend around $100 on them.

Finally got some time to put some more goodies on the car. Installed my rear speaker pod(finally) and some mad tight JDM fog lights yo! Sorry about that I've been doing a lot of Craigslisting lately and I think its starting to affect my brain. The fog lights are some jems from Wal-Mart, but they were only $15 shipped, so whatever. I like how they look plus they help in the never ending rain.

Unfortunately the Mr. Sparkle sticker wasn't meant to get wet so it feel apart, but I replaced it with a Kaws and some Kidrobot stickers.

Yea I was very excited to find a white one. As for the springs all I really know is that they're nuespeed. Since they came from the junkyard the rest is a mystery. All I know is the ride is rough and a little bouncy at times :). Some day I'll get some real coilovers, but for now these'll do.
