Sorry for the dark pic, but here is the freshly painted BLACK dash! Broke the damn side vents though...don't know my own strength. Anyone have spares? :)

  • How hard was the removal and replacement? How long would you say it took?
Even with this dark pic it looks really good!

Only about 5-6 bolts holding the thing in, but you need to remove the side vents, cluster, middle console, etc. Simple things that just take a little time. I did it by myself and it took about an hour to get it out. Make sure to drop the steering column all the way and, I didn't but would next time, remove the steering wheel for more clearance.

Removal, prep/paint, install was about 3-4 hours.

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Gave my baby a tune-up today! What a difference :)

After some soul-searching, I've decided to take on the J-Series swap. I have YET to see it done in a Wagon and will hopefully be the first to complete! Even though I have some competition on the J32a.com forums :)

Already have an '03 TL Type-S engine, wiring harness, and a base model ECU. The harness will be sent off to Don at RPM Systems for the wiring job. "Santa" is bringing the Hasport EFJ1 mounts and I hope to have it all done early February.

Will also be doning a custom hydraulic MC set-up!

Wish me luck and I will keep updating!

    Thanks,

    Andrew

Awesome project! Wanting this myself, I'll be watching you ;)

These motors are such a good deal. Too bad they're not a bit easier to put in. Oh well, keeps everyone from having one.
  • Whats the weight difference between a J series and a D series? o.0
  • holy shit! is that gonna fit???

I think the motor/trans difference is around 200lbs, but I could be wrong...

I will be posting up install soon. The '88 auto's didn't have the hole or stud for the manual pedal assembly anyways. So it is going to be a custom install with the SONEM hydraulic set-up, most likely.

    I'll keep everyone updated!

    Thanks,

    Andrew
