Wagovan Shenanigans

Hey all, i said most of this in my "introduction" but this is my build thread so lets do a little repeating.

The car is a 1991 Civic wagovan that was given to me by a friend after he blew up the motor and sold off what he could. I got this car friday the 19th of november at about midnight. I have had MANY hondas and happen to have a ton of spare parts. So i took the wagon from shell, with no suspension but 2x4's wedged between the lca's and the strut tower to what you see below. This was all completed in 1 weekend, the 20th (sat) and the 21st (sun).

LIST OF MODS:

Skunk2 front and rear camber kit
Aftermarket lcas
Stock dc2 shocks with TIEN springs (it sits about stock ef height)
B18B1 with B16 trans (didnt have gsr)
HASPORT motor mounts
Itr header
ACT clutch
Jun Flywheel
Stock miata wheels (ugly)
Blacksworks Alum radiator
Dc2 guage cluster

  • jealous! i can't wait to finish my swap. totally doing gsr cluster as well!

i guess i know who to bother if i run into any problems :P
  • One weekend!?
Want to fly out to chicago? It's 25 degrees, but I'm sure you could do just as much on my rt4wd in one weekend!? Nice work.

Oh snap! We have the same (mad tyte jdm yo) cupholder (mod).
  • Dang i forgot to add the cupholder as a mod lol. You fly me out to chicago and we can do work! Or pay for the gas and ill bring the wago! Cody the gsr cluster is sick and fits really good. I have a huge heart for dc's so its gotta have some integra flavor in it. Im building a 2.0 gsr turbo integra right now as well.

good work.... a weekend it's bad... i got mines done in 12 hrs... hahaha..
  • Hell yeah man. My last car was a 99 gsr I miss it to death. Just got my hands on a wrecked gsr sedan so most of it is going in the wagon :) keep us updated man!
  • Well today i spent more money on the wagovan. The total for the whole car plus mods is up to 88 dollars....soon we will be over 100....dang luxury cars are expensive lol. I bought an obd0-obd1 conversion harness so i can run my ls ecu out of my eg.
  • i hate to bug, but i have a couple question about what i need for a b-swap.

is the shift linkage the same deal as an ef hatch? cut it 2 3/8 inches?
i need ex/si/rt4wd front spindles and da axles?
getting my harness done by rywire so im not worried about that. already have an obd1 p72 as well.

i would just like to hear it from a wagon owner, every writeup is a hatch or whatever and as you know us wagon guys all have different quirks to deal with than they do lol.

    here's what i did...
i'm not sure about the shift linkage but i have heard cut and weld works... but i got my shift linkage from hasport..
and no ur stock wagon hubs well work just take off the metal O ring in the inside of the hub..
yea rywire harness is good too but i got my from ebay sell "MONO" but i'm running obd0... good luck

do you have a dx wagovan or rt4wd? or are all the spindles the same? i am going to be obd1 cause i had the entire car to pull parts and it was a 94 gsr. if i can use my wago spindles i will be happy!
  • Mine is just a regular old 2wd base model. The spindles were the correct size spline for the DA axles but i switched to integra spindles simply for the brakes. So yes i believe the spindles will work. The shift linkage i used was the same we used in a friends crx, so i assume any "EF" shift linkage for b-series will fit. And Yes i used DA axles, and midshaft.

Very cool that you have that many spare parts, and even cooler they went on a wagon!
  • Thanks mandalore. I took the wago out today and actually got on it, i must say it gets down pretty good. Im real happy i didnt put a sohc back in the car. This is going to be FUN.
  • Well the wagovan has been running strong for a week now and im thinking a turbo kit is in order. Im still keeping it stock height, with those horrible miata wheels simply because I really love the fact nobody thinks twice about the car having anything done to it (i know LS isnt crazy but its atleast fairly quick). Im also planning on getting a new exhaust done because this one is way way way to loud.

i have a DX but i'm pretty sure there all the same beside hf crx hahaha... n hmmmm i'm not sure if DC and DA axle are the same... and the only way to find out is to try... good luck...

just checked PN's and all the wagon spindles/brakes are the same. sweet news for me lol.
  • I used to run dc axles in my crx with a b series, all i had to do was run the dc front lower control arm. (i did this simply because i have a dc and eg, i wanted all 3 cars to run the same axles.
  • Wagovan boost? HKS gt 62mm wastegate? Some forged internals? Full Blown Twin 255 intake walbros?....nah..this is all for the integra but i DID deside on doing a seriously budget turbo build for the wagovan. Picked up a cheap wastegate, bov, and turbo ill post pics tomorrow.
  • Howd u get the gsr cluster to fit, and plug and work?
  • unlimited02unlimited02 Senior Wagonist
this well give u an ideal... but i rather run a s2000 one though...

oh sorry hahaha didn't mean to butt in
  • no worries, your giving correct info, thats whats forums are all about right?
  • unlimited02unlimited02 Senior Wagonist
    yes it is...
  • SOL_WAGONSOL_WAGON New Wagonist
Love tht centered tailpipe no worries bout smashin ur muffler. I always have that problem. DAMN U SPEEDBUMPS hahahahah
  • Lol yeah, the center exhaust is a real love it or hate it thing. Thanks for noticing it lol most people overlook it. The (FWD) wagovan has so much room underneath for exhaust its amazing!
  • ooh thought of another question! did you have to smash in your shock tower to clear the alt pulley? i'm gonna hate it if i have to lol.
  • I personally used a single cam alternator and single can belt it's one rib short but it works fine plus it allows you to not have to bash in your rail.
  • I never liked having to hit my car with a hammer
  • nothing wrong with a hamer on my linkage I cut 3 1/2 but maybe a half inch to much but it still bolts up and shifts good wiring is easy not worth paying anyone when you can find plenty of info online and a DA harness or civic Si engine harness ($5 at junkyard) will get you everything you need with some re-pining you dont even have to cut or extend any wires
