  • It was $575 + you pay to ship them there. They pay for return shipping.

oh boy. My dad used to be into volkswagens back in the day and he said it was only $40 per wheel to get them widened! I was shocked at such a low price myself.

Nice The red set it off and the rims deep dish nice
  • Having some issues with the 15" RT4WD Rims... The front left tire wore out way too fast. The inside half of the tire went bald within 2,000 miles, lol. The car rode real funny, would kind of zigzag on the highway. I'm going to have to have that rim looked at and am also going to have the car realigned. The other 3 tires look ok, not much tread left on them though.

I also have to repaint them. I was working on the highway where they were doing chip sealing and the paint on the rear rims got all dinged up from little rocks hitting. Will probably revert back to 14" rims until I find money to buy a new set of 15" tires. I still have 14" Potenzas, but need 14" rims to put them on.

I got a few other things planned. I am going to go back to 10W30 in the transmission like Mistabone suggested. Am also going to do amber corners when I get the paint.

    dude sick wagon.
  • Thanks man.

I sanded and repainted the big piece of plastic in the hatch, where the license plate gos. It looks alright, better than it did before, but not spectacular.

I also repainted the steelies again. I used Krylon Fusion "Satin White" They look pretty decent. I am really starting to get some skills with a can of spray paint haha.

As you can see in the pic (if you look closely) I need to work on the trim near the windows and that little strip at the back of the rear door. They are not painted though and use some kind of coating.
  • I got another set of RT4WD steelies that showed up yesterday. I got them repainted and got the tires (195/60 R14) remounted. Oh so nice compared to the old ass Azenis I was running. They were way too stiff. The car goes down the road straight again as well.

I'm still kind of wondering if the rims were not done right when I had them rebarreled. The front tires wore on the inside. The front left tire is almost bald. Nothing happened to the rear tires. I wonder if the rims are too wide. I might try mounting my winter tires on these rims (195/55 R15) but I don't want to mess the up too. I will probably just throw the 15" RT's in storage for awhile.
  • I've now had this car for one year. Total miles driven in the past year... 9650! Trouble free for the most part.

Car was down one month when I sent it off for headgasket replacement, and one month when I broke the wiring harness trying to replace the distributor.

It gets about 30-32 highway mpg with 234K on it.
  • Other little projects I want to do:

    1. One of the 5 bolts that holds the VC to the head is broke off in the head. I have a replacement bolt, but still got to get the broken bolt out of the head. It's not a big deal... leaks a little oil sometimes though.

    2. I've been running without VTEC since I got the car. All I need to do is provide a rpm input to the rpm switch from the distributor, then it should work.

    3. The car has two little rust spots that I am going to chip, sand, then repaint with Krylon Banner Red, which is a pretty good match.

    4. Car needs an alignment.

    5. 15" RT4WD steelies need new tires

    6. Drivers seat is pretty torn up. I'm going to find some iron on patches and patch up the small split in the middle. I wish I could just put in some 92-93 teg seats, but I don't really have the cash for that right now.
  • Car went over 235,000 miles today. No pic.

Some of the rust repair I attempted is not working, rust is starting to show through paint. I think I need to do more than just sand and paint it. I must need something else before I spray it.
  • POR15 is the best way to stop rust ;)
  • Thanks I will look into that.
  • This is how she sits currently. I took a few pics for interested parties. She looks good from ten feet away, yes?

I am looking to sell this or trade it for a stock hatch or CRX that I can use as a daily driver. Just like this car, but smaller, and better mileage.

NOOOOOOO you cant get rid of this!!!
  • I would give it to my gf (soon to be fiance hopefully) but she don't like having to shift.

So, I might be looking for a 1st gen Odyssey instead of a CRX for use as our "mother ship"

Well I GUESS thats alright. Considering they are almost exactly the same except the Odyssey is just bigger. In fact if I could find one I was thinking about doing the same thing. Considering H22's transplant quite easily in there....
  • You have to be willing to travel to find what you want. At least I do. There aren't many Hondas in my part of the country. The percentage is rising in my town though since alot of people are not native.
  • Well good news and bad news.

I found a parts wagon nearby with 105K on it. It's a 5 spd 1.5L DX. It's one of the metallic blue ones with a blue interior. The wagon is badly damaged but the drivetrain and interior look to be good still. The drivers seat was way better than mine, it still has a hole in the bolster, but that's it. So, I bought it for $20 and put it in. It was weird. I sat like an inch higher! I will probably get the rest of the interior to replace my badly stained seats.

Bad news... the paint on my hood is peeling and coming off badly. It was only repainted 14 months ago. This makes me sad, because it looked so good. I am also sad because I dont think the body shop I took it to will do anything about it either. They seem kind of shady.
  • 1988rt1988rt Senior Wagonist
    That sucks :(
  • Yeah as I suspected the body shop wouldn't do anything about my paint. Oh well.

Today I acquired the bottom half of the rear seat from "my" parts wagon to replace the badly stained version in my car. I am not sure if I am going to use the top half yet.
  • Ok, I am pretty bored today so I took some pics to show some of my progress lately.

    1207001321.jpg

Here is a pic of my new 195/60 R15 tires on 15" RT4WD rims. This combo is a little taller than stock so it makes the gearing taller. I find myself driving around at 2000 rpms alot now. I also found out the reason I wore out the azenis so quickly was a worn out front tie rod. I got that fixed and I also got an alignment done

    1207001321a.jpg

Here is a pic of the paint coming off the hood. The body shop claimed they only sanded the stock paint and painted over it, so they are saying the stock paint is doing this. I do not believe them.

    211.jpg

Here are the front seats I got from a junk wagon with 105K on it. If you look closely there is a patch on the drivers bolster, but these are much nicer that what I had before.

    Original passenger seat..

and here is the back seat... before/after

Next thing on the list is to get the rpm activated switch wired back up to the tach output and the VTEC solenoid.

    nice progress man.
thats BS about the bodyshop, i would continue to bother them about it. obviously they did not do what they were supposed to.
saying that the stock paint is doing that is stupid. obviously you have to paint over the stock paint, so do it so it doesnt peel!!!
  • The man is notorious for being shady. His mind is made up. He fed me a bunch of bull to justify his shadiness. I paid $400 to have the hood repainted along with a clear bra. You would think they would strip it down to the metal and redo it for that much. The thing is I believe that was done, but he doesn't want to admit it so he can avoid redoing it for a loss.

Not much I can do about it right now.
  • BTW, I passed 238,000 miles coming home sunday.
  • People like that irritate the the .45ACP out of me!
  • Well it's like if you give your friend $20 and you never see him again because he don't want to pay you back.

    Was it worth it?

  • You could take him to small claims court. A letter from an attorney might bring him around pretty quickly.
  • Oh man.. I want this! Those wheels look great! I've seen it done before with those wheels and I like 'em! I would have that thing sittin on the ground though, for sure
