Brandweer rood. I'll have to remember that :)

Got the seats last night, both in great shape. I'll have them in on Saturday, and then start working on the rear Evo 8 conversion as well. Pics up once I make progress!

Seats are gonna be a project. Those might not happen until next weekend.

This weekend is pull apart my Z6 weekend. Found this left in the oil all in the Vtec solenoid. ouch.

See that lower part of the gasket and all the shiny pieces...that's metal...from somewhere. The motor had two dropped valves too.
  • Picked up another z6 to replace my tired a6 while Im building my other z6.

    It's in!

I have learned one major lesson out of all of this. RT4WD complicates everything. Didn't realized I needed to change my oil pan until I struggled for 45m trying to get the trans on, dealing with the transfer case just makes pulling the motor and putting it in that much harder. Oh, Z6 headers won't fit with the transfer case in the way either.

Just a few more things to plug in and I should be ready to fire it up! :)
  • Also...just to make this motor a bit more fun.

So I've been looking at this photo for a while:

This car is local and he will be at our fall meet if you come.
  • That car AND your car!? There is no way I'm gonna miss it. :)
  • MrM3MrM3 Council Member
The meet will only be 40-50 cars probably but most everyone has some pretty nice ones.
  • nice car man, i feel you about traveling to find clean cars. Last february I drove down to chicago from madison to pick up my wagovan (2wd), nonetheless really clean. Well that all went down the drain when i had to drive it home. It had bad axles, ball joints that were about to snap, the brakes shook, bad gaskets everywhere.. so i feel your pain, the seller knew i was coming from wisconsin, it would have been nice to know if i could make it there safely.
  • Got an Innovative Mounts front cross-member replacement on the way so that I can correctly mount my 1/2 mount rad. along with a Hondata intake mani gasket cause I got a deal on it.

Had some issues with the swap, now Im tracing down fuel problems. Hopefully she will be on the road this weekend.
  • UPS screwed me, and I might have a bad ECU on top of it. Probably not gonna make the meet but gonna work through the night to get done.
  • So this sucks:

Now Im just hoping that it was fried when I bought it. I used a Rywire conversion harness so my assumption is that it isn't the wiring.

Got a local yard that has one, so I'll hopefully pick that up tomorrow.
  • New ECU works like a champ. Fired up and now Im dealing with codes 1, 14, 41. I think I've got it figured out though. Should be on the road soon! :)
  • red RT's unite!

    ayeeeeeohhhhhhh!
  • Hellz yes the red looks wicked on a wagovan bro!!!!
  • So, I think I updated in another thread but I should update here as well so others can follow the saga that is RB.

Motor was in, installed and seemed to work well. The the oil pump failed at 75 on the freeway and my motor made really bad sounds. That motor is fully disconnected and ready to be pulled and I should be getting a nearly fresh rebuild installed this weekend. More pics to follow. :( :)
  • Picked up the rebuilt Z6 tonight. 17,000 documented miles on it with receipts from build date. I'll be throwing it in sometime this week. Bisi header isn't here yet, but the innovative mounts front crossmember showed up last week. Slowly making progress.
  • Well, 2nd motor is in, this is what it sounds like:

Pretty sure that this "rebuilt" engine has rod knock, and possibly other bad things inside. So far thats $1000 in motors down the drain. Woo hoo!
  • ouch.. i just got a d16z6 to put in my future wagon and i hope it starts up with no problems *fingers crossed*. So what are you gonna do now? haha
  • Also, my bisimoto header came in. woot. :(
  • I'm gonna swap in the A6 tomorrow I think, then....not sure.

    Any pictures of this?

Dang man, well hopefully the a6 wont have a rod knock or anything haha.
    GL!
  • Shitty pics with a test fit. Gonna need to move the last piece of welded tubing to make it around the transfer case though. (yes the bad motor came with APC spark plug wires...I should have taken that as a sign.)

  • those are sick haha.
  • After a long emotional inner-debate, the wagon is up for sale.

    :(
  • dude why you selling all the sudden? every build has some bumps along the way
