Got the seats last night, both in great shape. I'll have them in on Saturday, and then start working on the rear Evo 8 conversion as well. Pics up once I make progress!
Mid-Swap. Brother in the background, friend and my dog on the lift. We were kinda beat.
It's in!
I have learned one major lesson out of all of this. RT4WD complicates everything. Didn't realized I needed to change my oil pan until I struggled for 45m trying to get the trans on, dealing with the transfer case just makes pulling the motor and putting it in that much harder. Oh, Z6 headers won't fit with the transfer case in the way either.
Just a few more things to plug in and I should be ready to fire it up!
nice car man, i feel you about traveling to find clean cars. Last february I drove down to chicago from madison to pick up my wagovan (2wd), nonetheless really clean. Well that all went down the drain when i had to drive it home. It had bad axles, ball joints that were about to snap, the brakes shook, bad gaskets everywhere.. so i feel your pain, the seller knew i was coming from wisconsin, it would have been nice to know if i could make it there safely.
Got an Innovative Mounts front cross-member replacement on the way so that I can correctly mount my 1/2 mount rad. along with a Hondata intake mani gasket cause I got a deal on it.
Had some issues with the swap, now Im tracing down fuel problems. Hopefully she will be on the road this weekend.
So, I think I updated in another thread but I should update here as well so others can follow the saga that is RB.
Motor was in, installed and seemed to work well. The the oil pump failed at 75 on the freeway and my motor made really bad sounds. That motor is fully disconnected and ready to be pulled and I should be getting a nearly fresh rebuild installed this weekend. More pics to follow.
Picked up the rebuilt Z6 tonight. 17,000 documented miles on it with receipts from build date. I'll be throwing it in sometime this week. Bisi header isn't here yet, but the innovative mounts front crossmember showed up last week. Slowly making progress.
Shitty pics with a test fit. Gonna need to move the last piece of welded tubing to make it around the transfer case though. (yes the bad motor came with APC spark plug wires...I should have taken that as a sign.)

This car is local and he will be at our fall meet if you come.

Now Im just hoping that it was fried when I bought it. I used a Rywire conversion harness so my assumption is that it isn't the wiring.
Got a local yard that has one, so I'll hopefully pick that up tomorrow.
ayeeeeeohhhhhhh!

Pretty sure that this "rebuilt" engine has rod knock, and possibly other bad things inside. So far thats $1000 in motors down the drain. Woo hoo!
Dang man, well hopefully the a6 wont have a rod knock or anything haha.
GL!
OMGWTFBQQ!!!! I knew me ordering bisi headers was a god idea. cant wait to get mine!!!
