1989 RT4wd Project

well to anyone that knows me knows i have a 1991 super charged civic wagon that i LOVE to death. well a good family friend of mine and fellow forum member found me a little gem for 600 bucks that just needs a head gasket. just needs some good old cleaning but for the price she is a great looking car. the best part is 100% in tact and 100000000000000% NO RUST!!!! as the title says its a 89 4wd model automatic. has the accessory rear speaker pods and the lower center console.which will be transfered to the main love my 91 lol. but this will be my build thread for this car and all my progress of cleaning and working on. so here are a few pics from today of me bringing her home. :punk::punk: well now iam up to three cars lol:ohgeez: but this one iam really looking forward to. and as for you SEEKERone see it took me longer then an hour to post up pics lol. enjoy.....

I really hope your keeping that 'grocery getter' sticker on the back window haha. It looks dope and fits the car very nicely. In for this build!

lol thanks guys. its going to be intresting to say the least. i bought it knowing that it has NO rear drive shaft. so its good ol 2wd now lol. but i am on the hunt for said item. ill be taking pics along the way the same as the white wagon build. but i am starting with cleaning up the seats and painting some stuff the retard that had it before me did. but for the price i couldnt pass it up. as for the sticker on the back oh yeah that stays i have one on my 91 as well lol.

ahhh, ok so phaze one consist of removing the interior to clean and paint some items. got everything out of it only thing left is the dash and that will come out for paint after i get the head on it. mainly cause id like to take it to work to blow out and vacum and ill just pull the dash out there. so with that being said the kid that had the car before me didnt really know what he had cause for a wagon with 250k on it the interior was in really good shape. if anyone has seen one of these before they know that the seats are alll ways torn and fucked up. granted doo doo brown isnt the best looking color for a cars interior but at least it was all there and not torn broken or really stained. so the retard decided to spray paint it all shiney black and it just looks like ass. so iam going back to the stock brown. used some aircraft remover to all the plastic pannels to get back to stock but iam still working on that so pics of that later. the main thing was cleaning the seats and carpet....any who enough b.s. and on with pics.....

rear section of carpet before...not too too bad but yeah.

    congrats on the car!

i spot cleaned my carpet and its looking a lot better. that "Tuff Stuff" fabric cleaner Wally Mart sells is great. 2-3 cans for the carpet/same wash as above and it will look mint again! probably do the seats too. they is nastyyy.

crappy pics i know and its NOT final...iam going to use some SEM paint and paint the door pannels brown again to be stock. but iam going to do the headlinner, sunvisors, and door pannel inserts in this plaid fabric. i priced out that fake burberry shit and they wanted hella money for it so i found some other plaid i liked for 3 bucks a yard....here is my general idea for it. and again the door pannels will be brown and it will be tucked a bit more. i just have to find a spray glue that will hold...

    253.jpg

yeah thats a mugen tat lol....and yeah iam going to do the seats. but thanks again for the support..
  • make sure to use some gnarly spray adhesive on the headliner/doors. get the best they have...it's like 10 a bottle or something, but its worth it. nice job on the cleanup though man. it'll look nice. get a wooden steering wheel and shift knob to make it look rad...maybe some seat beads hehe. that'd be cool

oh and tell your girl to stop showin off haha

I did exactly the same thing when I got my wagon; whole interior out. I used woolite on the seats-let them sit for a few min then used my power washer to rinse them off. The seats looked clean but the water looked like root beer when I rinsed them! Gross!

I then filled the floor pan with water and dilluted degreaser to get rid of 20yrs of gross-ass grime that made it through the carpet. I scrubbed it all down and then used my wet/dry vac to pull all the water out. Az is so dry that everything was dry the next day.

love the fabric man.plan on doing the same to mine.found some fabric at wal-mart that's kind of similar.
  • 1991KA81991KA8 Wagonist
k cool thats what i was wondering for the spray glue shit. i used some other stuff i thought was strong on my accord and it would fall down every other week or so. so thats my whole issue now finding the best stuff. seat beads are a must and never though about a wood wheel. that does sound pretty badass ill have to look into that. as far as pressure washing the seat i wanted to but i was affraid of how much water would be sucked up into the foam and then id never get them dry......i really dont want them to have a wet moldy smell......and ill have to go to town on the floor boards in there when i get to that point. just sucks on how dirty the guy kept this car. just damn gross. like you said the water comming out of this stuff looks like dark tea.

lol oh and ill let her know...she is 7 months preggo now so that will make her feel good lol
