The Wheelbarrow - 91 RT4WD (New name - new shots pg 4)

Well another project starts. This is the project thread Catsup squared, (few of your may recall the previous red RT4WD, Ketchup a few years ago who passed through the hands of a few hcw-ers.)
A couple weeks ago I found a couple RT4WD's for sale. I was mainly going to get a new hood for the current FWD, but I guess it turned into a bigger adventure. Met the older gentleman at his barn and found a pretty surprising sight. It was like a mini Honda junkyard with lots of cars, 5 of the cars all being wagons.
We ended up coming to an agreement on the 'complete' 91 RT4WD and parts car. So I decided to clean up Haggard and get her sold. With the funds from her I made out with more wheel drive, a parts car, and funds to spare.
Anyway, she was just delivered today and here's the pics of her and just a warning, she is a dirty mother effer. Quarter panels have a little rust, but might be an excuse to add some flares.

Eight balls are so rad...

Smokers stole the radio...

Interior is NASTY...good thing the parts car interior is in awesome shape, and also has rear speaker pods. 8)

Look at all that pigeon shit! Wish it was warm enough to wash it, but it'll have to wait a few days before warm up.

Luckily, the parts car has about everything this thing needs and I'll plan on parting the rest. Won't be having the parts car delivered for a couple weeks. Will go get parts as I need them until then.
First order of business is to clean her up and see what I'm working with. Then get some winter tires on the stock wheels (current tires are rotted), charge the battery and she should be good to go for a while. Throwing around collecting of junkyard turbo for the A6...we'll see.
Will keep this updated...but I've got my work cut out for me.

sweet... cat urine my favorite car scent.....
Yup, for the most part the body is solid. Just need to work on those quarter panels. For a car that hasn't been registered since March of 2004, it fired up right away AND the rear tailgate stays up on it's own!...two good things! haha
No updates for you, sorry mang. Work's been kickin my ass, which I'm supposed to say is a good thing. I did get home and get her washed as the sun was going down tonight. Holy crap there was a lot of grime on this thing. I'm gonna start ripping out the interior tomorrow. Pics then maybe...
Got her in the incredible shrinking garage (just had two pallets of pellets delivered this past weekend and they had to go somewhere til I'm done with the shed)...
All cleaned up...
No more bird crap, but we've got dents!
Underside looks pretty good, cept that exhaust. Did come with a replacement stock exhaust though...
Got her jacked up so I can get those nasty tires off, repaint the stock wheels and get some new tread.
Started ripping out this nasty interior. Got most of the rear out.
I think they had a dog or 5...that liked to eat vinyl and seat belts. shit is nasty....
Lookin better already!
yummy
F*ckin mildew and spider webs...I should have been wearing a gas mask...
We're savin this bitch though...and smellin better already!
Where's the magic eight ball?
So here's the oldschool MR2 wheels I was thinking of putting on. I can't get a good feel for them if they'll work or not. I'm thinking not so much with this color of wagon and I'd rather not go through the hassle of boring the centers, getting dif lug nuts, and tires if I won't like em. Input?
I'm thinking it would be easier and would look better just refinishing the stock wheels and getting some good tires.
All for now...
My vote is to sell the MR2 wheels on craigslist. Make sure you didn't bend your stock rim (out of round)... it's easy to do, especially the inner side.
*in for updates*
I was just thinking about it and these new ones would be 6 and 7:
87 Wagovan
White DX eventually went to wagodizzle
^ These two I kick myself for getting rid of as they were the cleanest
90 Blue Auto
91 Red RT4WD went to rexman
89 FWD - Haggard
(2) 91 Red RT4WD
Thanks for the heads up on the rim. Hopefully it's not bent, but there's a good chance at that anyway as it has probably been sitting on that flat for a couple years. Good idea on the MR2 wheels....I got em for $25, it would be tough to not get that back. I thought they would have looked good on Haggard, but just not feeling them on this one.
I like the white rims on the red cars. I'd stick with them. (Hmmm... I wonder if it would be possible to replace all the black trim and window gaskets with white.)
White trim...now that'd be interesting. Definite photoedit first.
Anyway, got the interior torn apart and cleaned for the most part. I'm still deciding on whether to take out the carpet to power clean it...
Painted the wiper arms...fronts are still drying.
Got under there to change the oil, went to use a 17mm and it was too small. huh? I thought oil drain bolt was 17mm. Go to clean off bolt with rag and it comes off easily by hand. Bolt hole is stripped and they used a bigger bolt with some crappy adhesive. Bummer.
Oooo wee look at that fun rust :? Can't wait to change that stuff!
What have I gotten myself into again??
While under there, I had a little visitor...
That was the highlight of my night. haha
and another...who I suppose is who made all the nests in and under this car...
Rack was taking up space so decided to put it on the roof for now. Looks good, can't wait to use it...
btw all my Honda's have had 15mm oil drain bolts... :?:
munch munch munch...
yummie..
: )
those "visitors" would have scared the crap out of me.
can't wait to see it cleaned up more after the parts car gets there.
No cylinder head, dizzy, brake booster, etc...
I haven't done much more than spray some air neutralizer in there and take inventory. The wagon project is going on the back burner for a week, as I got an offer on the B16 in the CRX so she's going to replace the wagon's spot for a week til I can get the engine out, then back in the wagon goes. Getting the tires I picked up for cheap today for the stock wago wheels, put on this weekend though so that's somethin!
the back of the seat its super duper easy and pasenger side will slip
off easy and slip on to driverside... the base of the seat is a bit more
tricky...
If I can find a girl that will actually let me keep that many cars... I will marry her!
I already did!
Does YOUR wife have a sister? lol
Seattle girls suck.
Me TOO
Looks like some good stuff on that parts car! Wish I could find someone with cars like that willing to deliver.
haha yeah, we're lucky but I also understand shes a strange breed to be letting me keep all these projects. The crazier thing is she's looking forward to driving it when I'm done!
Didn't have a ton of time to devote to the wagon this weekend due to taking the B16 out of the CRX without a lift. That was fun. Got it all done though, and go the wagon back in the garage ready for more work. Unfortunately I'll be in Philly all week for work, so it'll have to wait until the weekend.
