WINDOW - TINT - FILM ! i've choosen ...

basically here, this side of the planet, we're not allowed to do the front-section.
Rear section, no probs ...

i've searched, what's you guys using to tint, couldnt find any name, fabric or brand.
if there is al link on HCW, throw it ...

Coating is not an option, i believe in non-destructive modifications ...
No glue either please ...

3M, Lumar, sunglow, digitint (marketed as "value tint") and a thousand other brands make tinting film.

however, they ALL use an adhesive glue to stick the film to the glass.
  • see, didnt know that ...

closeby there is a shop specialized in plastics ...
i'll go see what kind of temporarily stuff they got ...

    thanks Pimp

Check the laws regarding light penetration in your country. Here we are not allowed any less than 35% and also not allowed to tint the windscreen.
  • PIMPALAPIMPALA New Wagonist
why do you just want it temporary?

if you are allowed to tint the rear windows, just get a professional to tint all the back ones with a nice dark film. once its there, you will wonder why you waited so long to get it done, adn you will never want a vehicle without it again.
  • Thanks guys,
coating involves a protective layer (film) to protect the coating
friend of mine had his 'tint' last week, very nice ...

regulations: no 'front' mods unless factory, 35% driver and passenger side,
no windscreen unless factory (stupid ey)
rear - allowed as much ... only one rule ... must have passenger side mirror

pimp: well the ac works so, but by experience i know its stays way 'coooler' with tint
so there is no real excuse except for the 'X-factor' ...
its not an answer to your question, but im a function before 'beauty' kind of looney-tic : )

i think i try photoflopping eagle to convince myself

Sorry, there is sunfilm based on static attachment

and you could use it over and over and over : )

when its done i'll show the results ...

ps. i dont think it would be as nice as coating, thats for sure
  • BE FAMILIAR WITH INSTRUCTIONS OF FILM
coloured windows is a percentage to add

    Method and gear used
Check several times and ways before you cut

Watch your hands, the way you pick up, touch things

Use your polses if needed, pollution lurks everywhere
asked a friend or anybody for help to aim
big scissor and tiny pointy scissor, scalpel, felt tip
dont use old blade(s) !! just touch the film, no pressure

    8 Pints (4ltrs) of water in 4 stages, with a little soap/dish

Can use the paper from the film to aim for outlines

Keep your hands, film wet at all time (mostly : )
just use your hand to wet the film and window
use a new sponge for that splash, a wiper(?)
use creditcard-o-alike to finish small bubbles

Important, every particle will show so ...

I used 2 pints times 4 during the proces
refill when just under half a pint, due to residu in water
when removing particles, then sponge upside down in water
    whip it off

    Rearwindow start from the outside
paper not needed, felt-tip to mark outline on film
    cargowindow, same thing

    For some parts, if you
put the (creditcard) and scalpel together,
the point of the scalpel half a milimeter out
    and keep it there
    you could get nice edges

    You get the idea

Try not to cut yourself ...

If you can comply to the rule "dust and etc. -free
i think it still could keep you busy 4 hours

Have a break every now and then

And yes I f*-up the first sheet
: )have used that for triangular part door...

I dont think people would do this in cold weather
    not recommended

Just did the ... CARGO WINDOW ... yeah yeah, think big : )

It was worth every minute, but I wouldnt recommend it : )

If your content with one side
    You could save yourself time
using those as a stencil, but ...

And if you dont have the time and/or are as stubborn as me, go to a pro : )

AND YES, THERE STILL HIDDEN PITFALLS
for you to discover, good for adrenaline, epic ey ? ...

This is the bottemline and my opinion
The film I've used is functional
Take your time to get used to drive around with tint !!

i tinted mine too long time ago... the only hard is the curves part in the back side windows...
  • I was thinking of tinting mine too, 35% all around to keep it legal and the same shade all around the glass house, keeps the interior somewhat cooler, and restricts less sunrays beating down on my blue fabric drying it out and making it rip/tear/crack/over time :? Looks good man!
  • the only hard is the curves part in the back side windows
    thats called d e t e r m i n a t i o n : )
