Engine Mount - 89 RT4WD

I recently got a clutch job on my wagon. Everything seems pretty normal, but I have a question. The mechanics said my front engine mount was damaged from a fender bender I got into a couple years, and that they couldn't use it when they reinstalled the trans. They said it's really not needed. Is this situation OK or what?

  • I would keep it if at all possible or install a poly bushing filler thingy (I can't remember the name of it for the life of me) in the rear mount.
  • front motor mount attaches to the crossmember.

most of our wagons have ruined the bushing in that mount and are essentially running without the front mount.

so you will be fine as long as your other three mounts are in good shape

pretty much like red civic standard said...

infact, Hasport kits illinimate the front mount altogether, it is just a small one that you dont really "need" if its gone anyways...

So, is it OK to drive the car normally? I don't need to be careful about accelerating, etc.?

:? Why don't you just install another 1 :?: How is the original mount :?: Is it just ripped or totally ripped :?: Most all the 1's I find in the bone yard are ripped.

Like eldonciv777 said u could put in poly inserts or fill them w/polyurethane from a tube. The prob is increased vibration.

I've wurked with a lot of options for the front mount.
  • The front one on my car was ripped and it was causing the motor to slam. When putting tension on the motor only the front was moving (although the age of the other three wasn't helping anything). I think you could do it but you will go through other mounts (especially the rear) much faster.

The hasport kits are much more solidish than oem, that is why they don't need one in the front.

If you front crossmember is it good shape (not bent or whatever) and it lines up ok, just get a new one. They don't cost much and the car will drive better.
