I've only done one pair, for Revmaynard. We used some exhaust pipe couplers from Advance, I don't recall what size, but IIRC it was a 'between' size- meaning not the standard tube size, but the coupling to join two pieces (1 3/4 maybe?)
I just picked up a 3 inch piece of 1-7/8" ID and it seems just about perfect, not sure if it is too big for the bushings yet, but I have a piece of aluminum tubing with a 1-7/8" OD so I could probably use some rings cut off of that as an adapter for the bushings.
I'm glad I got the ball rolling and some people really like the result, I can't wait to get mine done and try them out on my new HB!
im curious as to kno if anyone can get the dimensions of the one piece designs? i have a guy that can make them for us but need to know measurements. i was reading the h-t write up and one guy said that the ebay ones arnt designed like the GC ones meaning both working for up travel and down travel? no clue to wat this means but if any one knows let me know.
I am starting to manufacture these this next week. I finished a set for an EG couple a couple days ago and it turned out great. You can still use your stock bushings and I can custom make anything around 1"-2" extension. $50 a set + core + shipping.
The prob with that hat is that it's designed for coilovers. You need something to keep the spring centered in the hat.Honda does it by a cap method.Coilovers do it by a centering piece.

Do the bushings still sit tight and flush in a 2" ID pipe? This 1-7/8" inch looks even a bit big to me.
what are you running for suspension? I currently have Skunk2 Pro S. Would doing the top hat make a difference?
thanks
