A6 block z6 head vtec wont crack?

i recently swapped a z6 head on to my 88 rt and after a rebuilt head shes running good but we cant get the vtec to crack! i gotta p26 we tried wiring the pressure switch everything! i heard i have to get chipped?

Did you remove the oil restrictor that is in the top of the A6 block before bolting on the Z6 head? It's right between #2 and #3 cylinders on the intake side of the head, right next to the head bolt hole. If you did not, there's a chance there is not enough oil pressure getting to the head/Vtec mechanism, and therefore Vtec won't stay activated. The Z6 engine has the restrictor in the head, whereas the A6 has it in the block deck. Are you getting any engine codes (code 21)?

You do not need to get the ECU chipped.

im not gettin any codes but im not sure on that oil restricter i bought the car with a blown head gasket for a grand soo im not sure on that

Did you run a wire from the ECU to the Vtec? The A6 Harrness does not have the wire for vtec so you have to run one from the ECU to the head... Do you have an oil pressure guage? There might not be enuff oil pressure to make vtec work, will it not run up to 7k? you cant really hear vtec on the D series w/o a cam.. I would start with the oil pressure and making sure thats up to par before you cook the motor. P28 is an obd1 ecu did you get a jumper harrness ( I know dumb question but will put us on the same page) and a P28 you dont need to get chipped thats a D16z6 vtec ecu. Ecu might be bad, pressure switch might be bad, if wired up correctly there might be to high of resistance in the wire.. so give us more info and also do a compression check and post up your numbers.

if i was u id run it write at the ecu bypass the pressure switch jump it in the seloinod and then less wires all on ecu side and then you will b sure it works and nothings getting shorted out / jump of the positive on battery touch green wire on selionoid and make sure u here it click click when u touch it ' then u rule out that thats not bad' this nonsense about having to have a chipped p28 silly' no u dont. a jumper would b nice if they didnt confert the whole harness but jumper harness are easy to work with spend the 55 bux if u dont have one great to have;
