91 Civic stalling issues

Bought my brother in law a 91 Civic sedan about a month ago. It's was running a little rough when we got it so I replaced the plugs/wires/rotor/cap. Helped a lot. But the car seemed to always be hard to start. My brother in law was going to take it in to have it looked at this week. I figured it may be the fuel pump, but wasn't sure.
As he was driving the car on the freeway yesterday it all of a sudden just quit running. He had to pull it over onto the shoulder. We had it towed to the shop where it sits now. The mechanic says he's not getting any type of spark and suggested it may need a new computer. He's checking into other things right now.
My questions...what else could it be? main relay? Grounds? etc? anything else?
Where's the best place to get a computer for a 91 Civic 4 dr sedan?
Thanks in advance.

Mechanics trying to rip you.
Ignitor probs link
So I called the dealer and did a VIN# search on this car. It appears the ignitor was replaced back in 1993. Now, I'm not sure if this is the original engine in the car though. There are signs that it may be a replacement engine...I'm just not sure.
What should I assume here....ignitor or computer? My brother-in-law doesn't have a ton of money to throw at this car and I want to help him make the right decisions.
thoughts?
thanks in advance.
May just cut our losses and sell it as is unfortunately.
