im swapping out the wonderful stock (Lil REDWagon) radio BAM so kindly loaned me for Wago~Palooza...
to a more up to date ebay special so i can play dvd for my daughter..
it has the wires for the radio to be controlled from the steering wheel....

I need to know which Acura or Honda wheels with controls will mount n our wagons.....

Interesting. Personally can't think of any. I'd definitely have to say this would likely be in the Acura spectrum. Not sure if any of the OE wheels would easily fit.

Your best bet might be through the aftermarket. I know there used to be remotes that would mount to the wheel. I'll give a search when I get to a real computer.

problem is, any newer Honda with steering wheel mounted radio controls would also be air-bagged. im 99% sure the mounting would be different. you could possibly just get the controls (from say, a 2002 Civic EX) and have them mounted to the stock steering wheel, or even take the cruise buttons from an EF sedan and somehow convert them to be audio controls (also this wheel looks just like the RT wheel and bolts on in 30 seconds. or you could swap the controls over to an RT wheel, etc..). personally i think that would be easier, and look better then trying to retro-fit a newer wheel.
wiring either way would be tricky, so thats what i would do =D

Well, you do live in Virginia, right? lol

    This is all I could find: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130CDSR100 ... ml?tp=1068

I know there used to be one on the market that was smaller and more of a triangle shape. Not sure what compatability is with something like this. But I found it real quick just looking through Crutchfield. I'm sure there's plenty of others elsewhere. Maybe Best Buy or some other online retailer.

89 accord exi/sei have steering wheel controls, just basic volume up and down and track skip, You need the clockspring from the donor car as well to run the wiring. Autoloc has a universal style one, similar to the pioneer.

  • unless you plan on doing a massive amount of wiring your better of going with the wheel mounted remote

also what deck did ya get??

Maybe this can help. The shaft for the wheel on my car (its an EK with power steering) has the AP1 wheel. I got the cruise buttons. Its interchangable because the airbag on 00-03 S2ks is the same plug as 96-00 Civics. This can also with the EK9 wheels and DC5 wheels. I'm also told newer accord wheels can fit, though you'd simply not connect the airbag. EUDM EK9s without airbags may be worth looking into.

This all being said, I believe EG and EFs have a different shaft, However a steering column swap may be doable (not the rack, just the column...just the metal part, so a smaller or larger toothed shaft bolted to the u-joint.)

There are many late 80s accords at my local yard, you stopped by there once. Want me to go look next time?

ok guys i hit the Pick-A-Part.... didn't find a single one of the LXi accords with a wheel remaining... someone beat me to the wheel..
might need to find another car to get it from...

DOES anyone know how to verify what cars have the same steering wheel spline.. :?:

Why cant you just take apart the remote for your stereo and solder it too the LXI buttons? You would just have to kame a hole in the back side of the steering wheel that points towards the deck for the IR and hide it all inside the hollow space in the wheel. It would be pretty simple. :D

Im still searching for a wheel to buy with the buttons on it....

non @ the Pick-A-Part today....

found a few wagons tho... nice parts available..
  • was there a manual trans for an rt4wd on any of those wagons at the pick-a-part? In WI we have nothing that really compares to those glorious places. lol

    No RT's @ all.. :!:
 but if i find a tranny its getting pulled for a complete rebuild with an HX 5th gear and so will the rear trailing arms for the first RT rear drilled & slotted disc conversion on Scrappy....

Anyone know if any of the TL or RL or any other Acura wheels will mount n the wagons..?????
  • well any 4x100 bolt pattern would fit. I don't think any TL's or RL's would work, mostly integra wheels are what we can choose from.
