DA map light wiring problems, need help!

I've referenced this topic on my install.

I can't figure out how to correctly wire the map light. Currently I have my maplight wired into my oem dome light. However its not working correctly. When my doors are open and my dome light is in the middle position it works. When my doors are closed nothing works, not even the dome light when I put the switch in the 'ON' position. I'm truly stumped here.
Any insight or help would be great.

The prob wire might be you did NOT hook up to the right ground.Review the DIY link.
