CRX, meet the jaws of life.

this was my first swap, back in the mid-90s. it was a complete 87 integra, under a crx body. it was the first swap in my area, and made a few domestic guys shake their heads. it was taken off the road in 2000. I got it from my friend this time last year, but 10 years of sitting in the woods made it not road worthy anymore. its going across the scales at the scrap place in the back of a pick-up truck...

as I found it:

after a little cleaning and poking around:

as of friday:

we drug it off the trailer by hand, and one of us picked it up, while another slid a block under each corner. the shell probably doesn't weight 300 pounds, and about 50 of that is the Si hatch...

watching the first cut, SUCKED!!!

this was the point where I know I had made the right decision. the front bulkhead easily separated from the floor pan, and it was completely rotted.

  • what motor was in it?
  • Looks like an older ZC.
  • Thats a pretty awesome way for any car to go out.

What did you do with the motor/parts?

thanks man. we needed to train a new firefighter, so we killed 2 birds with 1 stone. plus I've always wanted to take a car across the scales in the back of a truck.

they're in my shop. I have the same set-up in my 86 Si hatch. the rear axle is gonna be used for a teardrop style camper.

you are the second one who has said that today. the other guy was also from NC. but he is in Youngsville. I dug down to it when I went to the scrap place, trying to get it for him, but during loading or transporting, the drivers side corner got broke off it.

I posted the car on redpepper and g1teg for anyone needing parts. NOBODY spoke up until I posted carnage pics. the other guy was wanting wheel arches too, but at that point, I had no way to cut them out, and they were wedged in with everything on top of them.

....."sorry fellers, changed my mind.... switch 'em jaws to ree-verse so we can put 'er all back together!".....
  • that CRX was absolutely the most repulsive thing I've ever seen and it had a WELL-deserved grave LOL and the firefighter made it look like a new car when he chopped it all up. The pic of the car in the truck bed was absolutely priceless!!! great pics
  • If you were referring to the wheels, they were freebies, that were put on so we could roll it.

I was referring to the entire car lol either way, its in the great honda world in the sky now
  • What's repulsive about a crx with a respray from blue to white? No ricer body kit, no freaky colors? What is your definition of repulsive?
  • i was meaning the first pic you had up where it looked like it was in an episode of "American Pickers" LOL
  • Gotcha. That's what 10 years of inattention will do. These cars won't be like cars from the 60s, where folks pull em out of fields and barns, and restore them years down the road.

That's a cool way to get a car dismantled. I have a firefighter buddy, wonder if he needs some "training"?

Reminds me of the time my best friend and I cut up a '76 Maverick with my old Lincoln buzzbox welder...didn't have any way to haul it off complete!
  • We're always looking for cut cars. I missed out on a friend's 88 integra last week. He took it to the scrappers as a complete shell.
