HOLY CRAP! wha are you gonig to cover with?
  • How do you cut the wood so perfectly? At the shop I worked at, they would cut it close and then have to go in with filler to get it flush.

No pics of the glass? Did you calculate the air space?

Can't wait to see it finished.

I"ll wrap the top in charcoal liner, there will be glass over the amps and then a cover panel matching in carpet. the sub grill will be basket weave steel wrapped in charcoal grill cloth. I will probably sew up a oem looking trunk mat to keep it looking stock

Years of practice on woodwork :) I have not glassed it yet.. the sub enclosure is seperate from the top cover aswell as the amp rack.. the airspace is roughly 2.5 cu ft.. I'll stuff the enclosure will fiber fill to keep down resonance

I don't think you'll do it  But if you need help...you know where to find me.
  • Wow, that's a really, really good job. I see a pattern here with you
Do you have any more pics of the process?

I'm looking to do a sub in my boot, tho I have the rear cargos and hoping to get a sub stealthed into one of the pockets with a door on. Want to keep my spare ideally.
I suppose youcould do that, but end up with a very strange looking sub box which sat inside and outside the wheel!
Can't wait for more pics as it progresses.

Spare tirewell enclosures are easy :) After some thought I may redesign it, build a sub enclosure on one side behind the rear speaker pod and then a matching amprack on the other side... keeping the spare tire.... but for now I'll be just driving the RT with a deck and 4 speakers :( As I need to finish my 1st gen for the trip to cali in sept for JCCS, Anybody wanna buy a sparetire well enclosure/gear :)
