Z6 crank in an a6 block? and whats better about an a6 block?

traded a old blown up GSR tranny & $20 for an a6 block and a z6 crank. first question, is can i use the z6 crank in the a6 block? second question, i have heard it a couple times here and there but what is "stronger" in an a6 bottom end compared to the z6 bottom ends? thanx in advance

    Z6 crank fits no problemo!

The only A6 block that is stronger thanthe Z6 is the one with the iron main bearing caps. The later A6 blocks went to the full aluminum main bearings caps/girdle, where as the earlier ones (stronger ones) had iron main bearings caps with an aluminum girdle that bolted to it. The iron bearing caps are more stiff/stronger, and keep the crank more stable under bigger loads (boosting/high rpm).

I'm willing to bet it's the early generation with the iron mains, but I have no data to support this. There's no way externally to say for sure.
