Lowering the Wagon

I want to lower the Wagon cause it looks stupid at stock stance. Anyways, I have been told that I need 92-95 Civic rear shocks, 90 Civic front shocks, and 92-95 Civic springs. Is this correct? Since I'm low on cash would it be ok to use stock shocks, and can I keep the front stock wagon shocks on there? I don't need anything super special since this isn't a track car, but I would like for a smooth ride and not something like a car with cut springs.

Thanks

  • That made me more confused and didn't help me out at all. I don't understand all the car numbers. (EF, EE, etc.) :?

So I need the same year shocks from a standard Civic, EF reccomended? Then DA springs? (wtf are those)

Can't I just get some aftermarket springs of some sort and run them? PLease help, I'm confused.
  • no no no....listen...

Buy struts for a civic hatch or crx of the same year as your wagon. Then you will need springs from a 88-91 civic hatch or crx to go along with your struts.

    thats it.

If you notice... at stock ride height, the back end is a little higher than the front.... If you lower your wagon with springs (say H&R Sport, for instance), the front and back will be more even with each other... If you want to lower your wagon and keep the back end higher than the front, you'll need to use coilovers instead of lowering springs.

    easy sneezy

I know its confusing, I just started learning the lingo... I had done some reserch online to figure all that stuff out... lol

    EF - civic hatch 88-91
    EE - civic Wagon 88-91
    DA - acura integra 90-91
its some sort of jdm thing, I'd rather it just be model and year!!

    Sorry for the confusion
  • AHHH Thanks a lot guys. Someone told me that I need to swap out the stuff from a 92-95 Civic, then I read that and it had me confused.

I think I'm gonna find some used stock shocks to run, then get some good springs.

What kind of drop are you guys running? I'm thinking a 2" drop with 16" wheels would look nice.

:? That recommended posting was poorly written, but has a lot of good facts.

 The OEM shocks are actually pretty good.Your front shx are fine. For '88 Wagons get any '88 Civic rear shx.For '89-'91 Wagons...any '89-'91 Civic shx will work.

can't understand, 88-91 wagon are same in France, except 2WD and 4WD difference... can you explain ?
  • The 1988 had different lower control arms in the back and the rear shocks from a 89-91 will not fit. The rear shocks on the 88 fit inside the lower control arm whereas the shocks from the 89-91 fit on the outside of the lower control arm.

I found this out the hard way because I bought coilovers from Japan and they wouldn't fit on the rear. I was told this is because in Japan the LCA's didn't change. This came from a guy who is in Japan so don't hold me accountable.

THANKS TO QUARTERS for squaring me away with some LCA's.
