Clutch throw out bearing/ clutch questions.

Alright, I've done a bit of searching and I'm almost positive my problem is in my throw out bearing.... awful squeal when I press in the clutch, and rpms drop to about 500... damn near dies when I go into reverse. Also, my wagon grinds hard going into reverse, and makes an unusual amount of that.... reverse gear whine, a lot more than any other car I've driven. Even using that 2nd gear, then reverse gear trick I saw on here, its still bad, any ideas? And finally, I'm thinking I should be able to find this by a search but I haven't had any luck yet.... will the 5th gear from my HF crx fit into my RT4WD wagon?

yea sounds like a throw out bearing... and u should check ur clutch pedal and see if the bar is cracked...
  • See if the bar is cracked? Also, is it normal for the clutch pedal to feel alot mushier, and travel shorter just because the throw out bearing is going out? It happened at the same time.

By "bar" he means the clutch pedal pivot. The mushy feel and shortened travel are textbook symptoms of a broken pedal assembly.

    Did you check this?

Yes I looked at the pedal and it's fine. So wondering if that wasn't the issue.

I was having some of the same issues (pressing the pedal and rpms dropping until the car almost dies, being very difficult to go into gear, felt weird when pressing down on the pedal) and here is what I ran into when I took everything apart. Have you been having to adjust your clutch cable more and more?

I haven't even touched the clutch cable it happened all of the sudden in traffic.
