Stupid question, Engine running no front wheels?

Still new the 4wd setup.

I am having work done to my front steering knuckles, but I'm at the point where I can test start my car. If the car is in neutral, there are no front wheels on the car (since steering knuckles are at the shop), is there any reason the rear wheels will engage?

Sorry to bring out a newb question, its just the fact I'm new to the 4wd drive train :)

if there is slip on the front, the viscous coupler will engage the rears.. I had my auto RT up on jackstands and it does the same thing :)

Just disengage the transfer gear and it'll be fine.

also its in neutral so they shouldn't move at all. also make sure that the e-brake is on, incase you dont already...

I was planning to disengage the 4wd. Ebrake is on :)

looks like I don't have to worry about it since I've been rained out tonight. Should be done tomorrow. I plan to finally get a member pic up :)

Doesn't matter if it's in nuetral or not.

If there is a difference in speed between the front half of the driveshaft and the rear half of the driveshaft then the coupler will lockup.

he ment while the front is jacked up on stands will the rear wheels spin when he cranks the engine. while disconnected they wont. while connected they wont if in neutral.
