78 CVCC wagon build for road course

Hello all,

I'm building a 78 wagon to run on a 2.1 mile paved road course. Prepare yourself for the rest of what I'm going to type (or just stop reading now) as this car is not getting restored to drive everyday...

My parents bought this car new in 78, we overhauled the engine in the late 80's, but never drove it again as the mice got into it and it just didn't smell that good. Since we had it sitting around yet, it seems like the perfect car to fix up for this road course race, the rules are based on 24 hrs of LeMons and ChumpCar events. I just finished gutting the interior last night and getting rid of anything that was not functional for racing, we'll be putting a cage in it as soon we get it running again. (BTW, I actually dis-assembled the interior so I'll be posting that stuff for sale or trade at a later date)

Since it's been sitting around so long, we need to get it running again, we also want to simplify the engine as much as possible, so my question for this post is: does anyone know what vacuum line hoses and components I can either cap off or get rid of completely? This has the 3 barrell carb on it of course, I'm hoping most of those lines really don't matter since I don't care about the emissions or it's ability to start in cold weather or whatever all those lines are doing. There is also a vacuum brain box thing, if anyone can point me to a good link or book or provide some advice on what this whole system is doing that would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks!

Get rid of the carb and get yourself a weber redline kit, 32/36 DGV. Had one on my old crx ; it was an easy install and it made alot more power. The vacuum controlled carb setup is just junk

It definately looks like I can get eliminate all the vacuum stuff and I'll soon be trying it. Any issues with this being a CVCC engine? Does the pre-ignition valve cause any problems? It doesn't seem like it would, but wondering if anyone has any experience with changing carbs on this engine.
    Thanks.

My old engine was a cvcc engine and it went perfectly fine with the new carb.
