Starter/Cranking Problem? Fidanza Flywheel on a 91 Civic RT4

I bought a used Fidanza flywheel that came off from a 92-95 civic. From what I told it would work on any 90+ Civic. Cable or Hydro. I also relocated my battery in the rear this time with a 4 gauge wire. Tried starting it & jumping it but all I can get is a "TACK TACK TACK" from the starter... as if the teeths aren't aligned up correctly to turn over & crank. Any thoughts?

All the D series Fidanza (ClutchMasters) aluminum flywheels from 1990 to 2000 have the same part number, and mine works just fine on my RT4WD transmission. I also used this same flywheel on my 1989 Civic hatch. I'm 99% sure the ring gear is the same diameter for 1988-1989 as it is for the others. The difference is in the diameter of the clutch disc/friction surface on the flywheel.

I would look to the power cable and the grounds for your relocated battery. It sounds to me like you have a weak/bad connection somewhere that carries enough current to kick the starter solenoid, but not enough to crank the starter motor. If you remove the starter, take the time to swap the contacts inside the solenoid. They are the cause of 95% of starters needing rebuilt, the parts are about $5 at Autozone, and it takes about 20 minutes to change them.

Thanks you are correct Jake! My car didn't start because of poor grounding the whole time! I just upgraded to some 8 gauges to the valve cover, thermostat, & tranny. And then BOOM!! It started like butter. LOL never doing that again.. wow.
