D16z6 valvetrain

Can anyone please tell me what these squirter things are? What I am talking about are the things on top of the cam bridge.

Also, I think my cam is badly worn, I tried to get pics but this is the best I could do.

Any ideas? I dont think I am getting oil to the top-end, I tried cranking the motor with the vc off and nothing happened. Thanks

If you're talking about the round things sticking out the top of the cam bridge (4 of them centered on each cylinder) those are the lost motion assemblies that control the large Vtec rocker arms when Vtec is not active.

Has this motor run before? Is this a fresh build? Is it a Vtec head on a non-Vtec block? If the later is the case, did you remove the oil control jet from the block deck before bolting on the head? If not, there's a pretty good restriction there for oil to the head. It should still get some though. Your oil galley below the cam looks empty. You may have a blockage. Is it possible the head gasket is on back to front?

It is a stock d16z6 head and block, I bought it used of craigslist. I guess the gasket could be on wrong since the guy said it had a recent hg replacement. Should I check that? How do I check oil pressure?

That top end looks oily. Are you sure you're not getting oil or just guessing? You can either hand crank it or unplug the dizzy and fuel inj and crank it (try starting it). You should see oil then. If not then you have some issues.

That's what I did, I had the vc off and the plug wires weren't hooked up. Cranked it over with the starter for probably 10-15 seconds.
