Anybody here have any gen2 wagons?

I just purchased my first honda, a 1981 civic wagon. It's showing 60k miles on the odo, and condition seems to show 60k, not 160k. some rust in front door hinge mount area, sills, and windshield lower pillars. The car runs and drives like new, looks like crap, but I love it. I am finding it difficult to find parts, new or used, other than typical maintenence stuff, let alone any performance or suspension goodies... Are there any aftermarket companies that produce anything specifically for these old hondas? I would like some poly suspension bushings, some adjustable struts, and bigger sway bar for the front end of this car. I have put 3" blocks on the rear end and cut the top and bottom coils off the front springs to get the car looking respectable, but it rides like a pile to say the least... Any suggestions or refrences for parts would be greatly appreciated. I am also looking for an 80's vintage roof rack for the car.... thanks, Jeremy

After chopping up the coil springs, no wonder your ride is trash. Good luck finding new springs, you may have to have some made. There are no aftermarket off the shelf coil kits made for the 80-83 wagons. You can find stock Struts for the front and rear shocks for the leaf springs on eBay. If you want to lower the wagon, have an expert rework the rear lear springs or see if you can remount the springs below the drop axle. For the front, you can call around and experiment with coil drop spring sets, but the cost would seem prohibitive to me, unless you can borrow the springs and spacers to see if they'll fit or not. Forget about finding poly suspension bushings, just buy the replacement rubber ones still out there and you'll be surprised how nice the wagon's ride will improve. Bear in mind, unless there is considerable customization, this is always going to be a station wagon and will ride like one as well.
