+++SiWagon DIY:CUPHOLDER in 1 Minute

All you need is any kind of bag with a flap. The bag can be
Vinyl, plastic,Leather, etc.Or you could make one.I used a Pentax camera
case I got from a garage sale for 50 cents.
Left pic:The camera case  Right pic:Fold the flap so that
distance "A" is the same as distance "B".

Left :If the flap is a little too wide.Bow it up in the middle.
 Right:Now put the ashtray back.

That's a 20 ounce cup in the holder.I very lightly touch the cupholder
with my knuckles ,when shifting1,3 &5th,but my shifters been
shorthened. With the OEM length shifter you may not have this prob.Try
it.With a "Big Gulp" there's most likely a chance you'll smash the
cup while shifting.Update:I tried a Taco Bell medium(32 oz. I think) cup & it works, but that's w/my shortened shifter.Check for clearence on the OEM size shifter. On AT Wagons:Works, but when you shift into PARK.You'll need palm it in with your thumb on the button(if there's a cup in there).
You can rest the cupholder on the center console(left pic) or side
ways(right pic).On the center console is better.Less stress on the
flap.

 Try thrift stores or mass discounters(e.g. Ross,Big Lots).I saw a lense case with velcro dividers that could be used as a double cupholder.Feel free to post other cupholder ideas here.
Update:For shorter cups some kind of spacer can be put into the bottom of the holder to raise up your cup.
The camera case I used is from a old skool point n shoot camera(Pentax Zoom 90-WR).When I find a 2nd one I'm going to make a D :D UBLE cupholder.

but i guess another issue would be that your drink is almost completely covered by the holder thingy that you have to reach in to get it unlike traditional holders where the can/bottle is exposed and does not cover up your drink.

You can add a piece of foam, plastic or wood to the bottom to raise up the cup.Or get a shallower case.Ihaven't popped a top yet.
  • wow, I just saw this. I'm impressed. I'm gonna keep a look out at the thrift stores/garage sales for a bag to try it.
