Speedo/rev cluster questions

I have a LATE SPEC JDM EF5 Beagle AUTO.
It's getting a replacement engine and MANUAL box conversion, from an UK EARLY SPEC 4WD.
Are the JDM Shuttle's electronic VSS? As I know EF8/EF9's are... I pulled a cable out the back of the speedo on the EF5, and have noticed this on EF6 CRX's too... :?
What speedo/rev counter should I use? Or won't I have any problems because the gearbox and engine are being swapped, and taking away VSS?
I have a KPH>MPH converter, so I have that covered, but I don't know what cluster...
Do I need a late spec 150mph speedo from a UKDM ED7/ED9 (D16A9), or a JDM Si EF7?
Any ideas/input welcome,
