Hello from NC

I don't think I ever introduced myself on here. My name is Thomas and I live on the coast in NC. I've got a 90 DX Wagon and an 88 10th anniversary rx7.

As for the wagon, I just got finished putting in a D16A6 out of an EX sedan I bought for parts. Needless to say its a lot better than the D15B2, what with the MPFI and way more aggressive cam profile. I've also got a crx si transmission, so I was happy to marry the A6 back with its intended transmission (the EX it came out of was an automatic). It's got fat fives, I would rather have them stock unpainted, but they came painted gunmetal like you'll see in the pictures. The car is lowered with skunk2 adjustable coilover springs on DA front shocks and stock rears. All of the stock rubber bushings in the front are now poly. The front and rear engine/trans mounts are brand new stock mounts with urethane inserts. I tried the inserts in the side mounts too but OMFG the shaking, those had to go. It's got a DC 4.2.1 header from a 99 civic going to a cat delete pipe going to the stock long pipe to the stock muffler (for now). I put cheapo ebay strut tower bars on, but the front one stripped out its threads, so I've only got the rear one on. The cheapo ebay front lower tie bar fit and clears the header nicely! The back seats have been removed, and I keep a tool box strapped to the rear strut bar. I did a "wire tuck" and moved the fuse box and battery into the passenger footwell. I say "wire tuck" because I MOVED the wires but didn't do it to make them invisible or really pretty. Unfortunately I hit a deer a while back and had to use tie down straps to hold my hood on which in turn ruined the shit out of my fenders. I was able to find a hood, same color even, but no luck on the fenders, so ignore them in the pictures!

I just bought a flowmaster exhaust for a crx and I'll take pictures of how I modified to pipe to make it fit a wagon. I also just got a half size radiator, so we'll see how easily I can get that thing in there too.

Pictures aren't that great, they were all taken with my phone.

  • Looks pretty good...welcome to the club.

Why'd you choose that location to relocate the battery? Never have any passengers? Just seems weird with all the room in the rear cabin to lose a commonly useful area up front. Just curious.

    thanks!

I just did it one day when it was nice out and I felt like messing with the car. I wasn't planning on it, so I didn't have enough cable to run the positive post to the starter. BUT I did have a battery box laying around in my garage from a botched relocation of my rx7s battery a couple years back.
  • Nice wagon :) . Like the fat fives in black .
