  • they're very easy to hook up, just set it up like an amplifier off your distribution block

positive post -> positive of the system
negative post -> negative of the system or chassis ground

There are other ways, but this is the method i've always used.
  • i heard that they have to be charged....if you
dont they can do some serious damage
  • it will charge off your battery... i've never charged one before putting it in, and they've never done anything bad

Edit: you'll probably want to use the supplied resistor and UN charge it if you take it out of the car... those things pack quite a jolt if you accidentally touch both the terms :)... and the resistor WILL get very hot when doing so, so where some gloves...

Oh, and one more thing... DON'T put it in while the car is running :P, i always pull the main system fuse as well, to make sure there's no current while i'm putting it in line.
  • it didnt come with a resistor

If you have a test light ( or even a light bulb with 2 wires ex:1157) you ground the cap and take the test light and clip it to your 12v battery lead ( or one wire if you are using a bulb) touch the other end( bulb or test light) to the positive terminal on the cap. The bulb/test light will go bright and then fade to off , once the cap is charged. At that point you can then connect the positive lead to the cap :) to discharge you take off both leads to the cap and put the bulb/testlight on ea terminal. The testlight/bulb will be bright and fade out once it's discharged
  • that's an "old school" tip :)

I used to have one back in my stereo days. Definitely a good upgrade if you're bumpin.
  • if your're serious about this...
you' gonna need an extra battery...
with an .5 Farad you top is about 500W RMS
hook it up straight to your battery
with fuses off course using the thickest wire possible...
about 25-35mm2 based on .5 Farad
and replace alternator with higher capacity...
    thats about it...

    however...
    usually upgrade battery and alternator...
should do fine up to 1 KiloWatt...
    without capacitor...
