i have an Alpine mp3/wma/cda deck. it's last years model, it had the best of the best scroll/search features of any mp3 deck, that was the main selling point. I woulda liked a better screen... button placement is great, remote is to big and has been rolling around under my seat since day one.

pioneer speakers all the way around (yes, i have the OEM rear speaker pods)
i'd like a small amp to power the speakers more, but it's hardly a priority.

In dash Pioneer 5000mp DVD player with Pioneer Graphic Equalizer, 5 inch LCD screen with a Fahrenheit FM Modulator. Xenon 10 inch sub, with a Blaupunkt Box, Pioneer 6x9s, 1 farad cap, Kenwood 1000 watt amp, and two 6 inch JVC speakers for the front. It was pieced together with stuff I had laying around the house.

I was trying to piece together a ghetto system for my wagon, but its sooo far down the list of someday projects.
For now, its almost amusing (or pathetic) to hear what its got:

honzda CD player...yes its a Mazda/Ford CD player.
5.25" fronts...oem 96-00 Civic speakers sound suprisingly decent, if you like AM radio.
Pioneer 6.5" rear...15 years old, blown to hell.
    honzda_CD.JPG

I have pile of leftover project stuff. Some variation/configuration may eventually find its way into the wagon
    Blaupunkt Phoenix...cheap, but MP3 capable.
    6.5" Polk 2-way speakers
6.5" Pioneer 3-way speakers...a little old, and I'm afraid they'll be too deep for mounting in the front door.
6x9" oem Protege speakers...these actually do sound good. Probably for the rear but I have no idea how I'm going to mount them.
35wx4 Pioneer amp...small, easily mounted, might drive the speakers to sound decent.
75wx4 Pioneer amp...big, not so easily mounted but I think it'll overpower the speakers I'm dealing with. Plus
its brand new in the box. Almost too nice for the wagon.
250wx1 Kenwood Amp...small, one dimension functionality
8" Kenwood sub...awkward shaped box. Maybe I'll rebox it and cram it under the seat.
2 Aura bass shakers...don't ask. I'd kind of like to see them in action because they work great
in sit down style arcade video games.

lookin' great guys! keep em coming.

quarters, post a pic of the deck and those pods :D

ragenasian, nice with the DVD and screens. your rear is lookin mighty fine. that sub looks great back there with the 6x9s

davens, nice setup with the mazda/ford deck. it looks great in there. you could actually fab a rear-deck then get the 6x9s, or even the 6.5s in the deck. then you can get that 35W 4channel amp to power those in the back. it'll sound awesome back there, if that's what you're looking for 8)

i know other people have more....show us!

The deck...You can pick them up on Ebay all day for $40. There's even a Bose version if you're an audiophile on a
budget. And with the oem spring loaded snap-in-place brackets, its easy to install in din openings.

Part of my dilemna for the rear is that when I'm done with my wagon, there's going to be nothing behind the front
seats and an emphasis on cargo/hauling.
I'm putting in a flat metal floor and welding D-rings in several spots. So speakers might get in the way. I dunno...I'll
    probably change my mind, again.

oh i see. you could always go the route that NJ went and put the speakers in the ceiling. unless you want to just have front speakers :? it might just be me, but just having the door speakers in front isnt enough

    Blaupunkt CD Headunit
    6.5" Pioneers in the front
    3x6" Alpines in the rear

My Shuttle is soon to receive an on board mini ITX system to replace the headunit... :D

HEY RAGENASIAN. NICE SET UP. I WISH I HAD THAT CONSOLE. LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN GET ANOTHER ONE.
  • ragenasianragenasian Moderator
Hey NJ I am going to try and fab up some consoles to look like the one I have. I am thinking instead of a cubby hole there to make it flat across the frong to so that you can cut whatever it is you want to install be it gauges, eq's, radios whatever you want. If it comes out okay hopefully I will either be able to make more or you will have dibs on the original that is in the car. It was cut to make room for the din sized eq you see in the pic. It will still be a couple of weeks before I will have the necessary materials to make the copy but again if it works you will be the first to know.
