Radio, Car Start problems.

So its raining currently here and my car tends to lose its juice in the rain for some reason. It starts but has trouble.
I have been trying to look for it and can't find the problem.
Battery is 1 year old.
New alternator.
And aswell when i am driving and i switch in to reverse or drive my radio restarts and when the radio is playing (mp3 disc) , when the next song plays only the subs in the back have sound i have to open and close the passenger door to get the front speakers to work. <-- Sound lame but i ended up figuring that i had to do that when no sound come from them.
All of this doesn't happen on a sunny day. :?

Sounds like you either have very bad grounds or mad condensate in the wiring. Do you own or have access to a dehumidifier?
  • Really sounds like a bad ground wire. There should be 3, one on the valve cover, one on the transmission and one on the thermostat housing. Take each one off and clean it with a wire brush or sandpaper. Then hook it back up and be sure its tight. Hondas have to have good ground wires. 8)

Ok i tried only the valve cover because it started raining. And couldnt find the tran and thermostat grounds.
And the engine didnt stutter it cranked and started like normal.
The valve cover ground was blackish with grease so i sandpapered it and put it back on and tightened all the bolts.
Then on the speakers i just took them out and cleaned them they had some water on them  , then pushed in all the connections and put some electical tape and the speakers worked perfect. :P
The whole process took me 7min (rushing because rain was starting again).

Can someone post pictures of the locations of the transmission ground and thermostat ground and any other major ground that does with starting the car.
    The car died again. :x
Should have looked for the other grounds.
Going to take battery to autozone tomorrow not going anywhere tonight.
I never thought i would have to say this but, Fuck the rain! :!:
Found out that my valve cover had a broken bolt where the ground connects so FML.
How do i fix this broken bolt?
Its the one located on top of the valve cover on the right.

I probably could scan and post some images this weekend. I have a ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manuel) at my parents house. I know that would show all the vehicle grounds.
    EDIT Never mind

Follow the negative terminal on your battery to the chassis, it should go from the battery to the chassis and then to the gearbox, all in one cable.

ok so the negative terminal is caroded and rusted and has to be replaced but where can i get one that fits exactly to the wagon negative terminal with new bolts?
tried 2 autoparts store they dont carry any wagon stuff they just recomend the regular negative terminal that has a big o hole for the ground...so yeah. kinda need help on this. and i also want to replace the positive terminal for some reason while im at it.

these are known for their bad grounds. I was taught to replace them with a thicker wire( 8 gauge or larger)
This can be a way to make sure you don't have these weird issues or potential engine noise issues in the future. At a car audio shop the wire and ends would only cost $10-$15
  • You can buy new grounds from the dealer or online from like Bernardi or Majestic.

I've replaced my trans and valve cover grounds with aftermarket wire and ring terminals. I used 8 gauge and some heat shrink. I also ran an 8 gauge to the thermostat housing where so many things are grounded. I also like to connect the little yellow boxes behind the turn signals to the nearest ground wire using 14 awg. I took measurements for the battery ground but I need to find a place that sells the large, non-insulated ring terminals. I've lived here two years and haven't found a decent electrics supply.
