Hatch Struts-Bottom Mount Not Threaded

Has anyone had to deal with the bottom mount for their hatch struts not being threaded anymore? I picked up a good set from the junkyard but the bottom mount has no threading

Any ideas on what to do??

im not exactly sure what your talking about, but are you talking abou the drop fork?

seems to me you send a longer bolt through with a washer/lock-nut on the other side...
  • bodywork ???

i dont think i've ever seen that part...

    in detail that is...

    : )
  • my bad. I guess what i posted was confusing :D

Here's the piece im talking about.Bottom mount for the struts that hold up the hatch. You can see in the picture that is not threaded :?

AHHH! The nut that was spot-welded inside the body has broken off.

Here's what I would do: The aftermarket hatch struts I have come with a detachable ball-stud for that lower mount (as opposed to the OE style where the stud is captive to the strut end). Just get those and fish a nut up behind the panel, once you tighten it up it should never have to be moved again.
