B Swap Questions

SO heres the deal guys

just bought an '89 FWD wagon and i wanna swap it.

The plan was to go n/a d-series but id rather go with a motor that makes more power to start with.
My question to you guys (after a fair share of searching) is as simple as what it takes to do a complete B-Series swap in my wagon. I'm not afarid of the amount of work and not to to worried about the cost but i can't find a complete list of everything that it will take to do a complete swap.

Also, has an H-swap ever been done? I've seen h22 ef's but never a wagovan. Is it possible? Ever been done? Is it even worth the time?

Any info or links is greatly appreciated.
thanks for the help guys

'The swap is exactly the same as any Bswap into an "EF". You'll need:

    Engine
    Transmission
    Intermediate shaft and axles
    Wiring conversion
    ECU

I don't know about the Hswap. but again, the EE is just like any other 4th gen mechanically.
  • awesome
thats what i like to hear
    thanks for the help

any info on the h series is still welcome
  • There was a guy on Honda-tech who had an H swapped wagon that was in the 12's iirc.
  • Well since there is a topic open, can anyone here confirm on what needs to be done with the heater hoses going from D to Bseries?

and D to B engine mounts.
if you have a dual carb engine in your wagon at the moment, you will need a fuel tank and lines.

Nothing they are the same they hook up just as they would in a d-series.

Haha well its summer here so I dont need the heater for at least another 6months, just trying to minimise stress once the time to swap over comes around

From my searching it seems that if you want to retain the 4WD with a b-series, you need a 5-speed transmission from the 1st gen CR-V's.

If that is the case, can an entire 1st gen CR-V drivetrain be used in the wagon, or is it best to retain everything after the driveshaft as original wagon parts?

I'm just trying to figure out what my total cost on a swap would be. I wouldn't have a problem with just dropping a B20 in there for now, and if I felt the need for VTEC I could swap that later, but I doubt I would need it.

    Thanks in advance.
  • doesnt someone just make an adapter plate to mate up a d tranny with a b motor?

    i thought bisimoto did that.

What about the shifter cables / linkage.....don't you need one from a DA?

Yeah, my bad. Need shortened DA linkage or store-bought conversion.
