bollocks

So Hurricane Ida has been a real bitch to my Wago. Turns out the door seals on the passenger side leak like a friggin sieve and now both floorwells are flooded. Pulling the drain plugs and buying a tarp as soon as the rain lets up, but I was wondering whether any of you fine folks had any insight on where the hell I might find replacement weather stripping? If not, does anyone know any other fixes? Thanks

I've gotten good weatherstrips from the junkyard, but it's hit-or-miss. I haven't even checked Majestic et al.
  • I bought the outer door seal for the driver's door on my 91 from the dealer about a year ago.

I thought about the dealer, but if you go in there saying "I have a 1987..." They start trying to sell you a new car. As far as I know the dealers aren't carrying much of anything for the 3rd gens anymore...Local pick-a-part didn't have any 3rd gen wagos either....
  • local dealer prices are much higher than online dealers:

a month ago I called majestic for a part and they told me it was discontinued, no longer available and that no one else is going to have it. however I kept looking and then called hondapartsnow.com they told me there was one left at the honda vintage warehouse of north america..they ordered it and shipped it to me. try them as well!

in your case I would go new through the online dealer...yeah so what it's $60+ ..are you going to run around for a rare car to begin with and then try to find a hit or miss piece in good condition? or worse buy it thinking it was in good condition to then find out it's not after you install it. your time is more important. buy the new part and install it, no running around, no hoping it works. that's what I would do in this case. hope they have it and let us know what happens!

ultimately if you can't find a new one, try cleaning it thoroughly and then apply nu-vinyl all around. it may be that it's leaking because it's dirty and not making a clean seal. nu-vinyl is great stuff it will recondition old rubber. heck try this first and see what happens. buy the spray bottle shown. try your local auto parts store first they may have it.

Thanks man, I'll def be giving Nu-Vinyl a try...Now I just have to put new plugs in the floor where I opened it up to let it drain. You guys have been way helpful on this one, perhaps now I'll load the pictures of the car haha...
