help I broke my NEW fuel pump-AAARGH

I need some brainstorming here. Please! I was putting a new fuel pump in my son's 90 sedan and I got over zealous tightening the stud on the positive side of the fuel pump we JUST bought. I know stupid-stupid-stupid! What is left is about a 3/16 portion of the stud. I am thinking about soldering a terminal to this portion 'caues I don't want to buy another pump. Any comments, suggestions, SWAGs?? I am so bummed!! :(

I don't see why you couldn't just solder a terminal or a wire on there. I would before I bought another pump.

Here's what we always say when we're considering trying something like this:
    "It's already broke, ain't it?"

I would say i soldered it on purpose as a no-spark improvement on my pump.
Chances are you wont and nobody else will be changing it again in the future if the first one lasted this long too ^^.

From my experience from working at a parts store. Take it back and tell them its defective and didn't work and you want another! Depending where you bought it they cant argue, The customer is always right. And with a new one be caeful with it! GL
