Hello

Got my wagon! Finally! I mentioned it before in the body work boards that mine was incoming...

But the passed 2 or 3 days I haven't been able to log onto the site, was it down? Going down again? I cleared my cache like a 100 times to see if it help me back on the site...

I would really like to keep my wagon on this forum and this forum only. Where other wagoneers understand and can relate, with passion and technical advice in one.

Pics coming after I get my new hood :)

Well, after days of calling EVERY surrounding city junkyard I could find on the internet and in the yellowpages...

I couldn't find a wagon. All the ones in Dallas had been sent through the crusher is what I'm told.

BUT, Honda dealerships can sell me one..... for 340$.
Is this worth it? Could I get a better hood, or of equal quality with less or equal amounts of money?

I think I pay <$40 when I get them at the local yards. I only have one spare right now, and it's spoken for, but I ALWAYS buy hoods/bumpers/fenders/corners/taillights/mirrors etc. when I see them. They're just too hard to come by and I have 2 1/2 of these cars

Anyway, shipping a hood would probably be expensive, but nowhere near $340! If I find another, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, just keep looking. A big part of my attachment to these cars is the thrill of the parts chase, and finding junkyard treasures for cheap. In February I found 2 wagons in the same yard, in sight of each other in DFW, so they DO show up, BUT...I'm not sure that if I had called that junkyard on that day the person on the phone would have been able to tell me so. They may know they have Civics, but don't differentiate wag/sedan/hatch/crx. Just allocate a few hours to go walk through some yards.

    Hmm... Okay.
Well, I called something like 40+ yards. From Fort Worth, to Lewisville, to McKinney, to Nevada, to Mesquite, and everything in between.
A good 10+ said they don't carry anything that old... Which doesn't make sense to me. But as you said, they may not even know.

-I was told to go to the "pick n pulls" and I should be able to find something there... Because of the abundance in cars - and no year restrictions.
For some reason the pick n pulls don't have phones that they're capable of answering. Only automated messages.

There's your answer^^. The PicknPulls or PullaParts are where you need to go. There are different "tiers" of junkyards. Some only go back 5 years, some specialize in foreign or domestic cars, etc. The self-serve yards are where you'll find the goods. I don't think our local PullaParts have anything newer than 1999. IIRC they're all clustered together in Dallas, so a trip to look at several would be easy.

I've learned soo much about auto yards the passed 2 days it's insane. I heard about this "tier" type of thing too. I learned there's "classic only" yards where they store loads of classic cars only up to 1984 I think. Then I found Green Leaf (recycled new crash tested parts). Found american only yards, found foreign only yards. Dallas, Ft.Worth, Grand Prairie are loaded with yards.

So far, I've visited almost every yard in the Grand Prairie area. Found lots of civics in the year range - but no wagons.
Too bad they don't share hoods... Geez.
BUT- There's one more Pick'nPull yard in Haltom I need to visit. I chased down another guy with a wagon and he swears they have a wagovan(not sure on hood status). I called and they said they didn't have a wagovan... But I'll check for myself.

A lot of them are saying they're crushing the wagons.......

Sweet link - wonder how often it's used.

No hoods in Texas according to that site - but I'll keep resubmitting my request every 48 hours.
    Thanks!

My friend needed a roof for his crx because some idiot installed a sunroof that was more like a submarine periscope it was so badly fit.
got a shell with hood and fenders for 60$ on craigslist from some guys who were desperate to get rid of it. lol one mans junk is another mans roof.

    The 5 speed AWD tranny?

And yeah I used craigslist. I check it every day. I check all the surrounding cities (Waco, East Texas, deep East Texas, Austin, Texoma, Texarcana, all of Dallas, and more). There's tons of CRXs in salvage yards too. More common than you think. Wagons are just oh so rare.

I know where one guy has one. Besides paint, it's body is in perfect condition.
Before I had my wagon, I went to his house like 20 times to try and buy his. He never answers the door I guess. The wagon has a broken drive axel and 350,000 miles.
I've been recently to ask if he'd sell it so I could use it for parts. He still hasn't answered his door.
-Been to his house soo many times the stray cats in the neighborhood trust me now...
  • I needed an input shaft for the 89-91 RT4WD tranny. It was going to cost $250 from the dealer. I actually ordered one, only to find out it was discontinued, and no inventory anywhere. I went on car-part.com and found a complete transmission in CO with a busted case for $75 plus $50 for shipping.

Now I have a bunch of spare parts for later.
  • there is a wagon in jacksonville fl in descent shape
  • I've used car-part.com many times over the years. It is really good.
