Rear interior gutted, custom wagon for HAULING?!

I have also been looking for images of people that have taken out the rear interior in preference of having more room just to haul things. Im a photographer and have a bunch of Pelican cases id love to just slide in and out. Has anyone converted the rear into a permanent bed sort of carriage? Pics?

Do you have a DX, Wagovan or RT4WD?

The lower portion of the rear seat pulls up and forwards and then the back portion of the seat flips down, making the whole tray flat int he back.

Hmm. My rear seats are nearly always folded down and I use mine like a truck. In that configuration the floor is very nearly flat from the hatch to the front seatbacks. I suppose you could gain a little volume by removing the rear seats altogether.

If you're talking about removing the rear plastic liners, I don't think it's worth it. The plastic is molded very closely to the inner bodywork- all you would gain is a few cubbyholes and a heap of sharp edges. I considered leaving them out of my camper, but didn't.

In the Wagovan/Civic Pro it should be completely flat. Now that i think about it i never tried it once i got the Shuttle RTi.
  • yea, I took my rear bottom seats out but left the tops in that way the floor is completely flat.
  • I assume the USDM rear seats have the little clips on the bottom where they pivot to remove them nice and easily ?

    The seatbacks, yes.
  • Interesting topic... I've often wondered how to remove the seat bottoms so I could sleep in the back and have my long legs up in the front seat passenger compartment (it's a bitch sleeping in the fetal position)... Any ideas?
    -ed for spelling/clarity
  • Certainly over here, the rear seat base behind the driver is removable.
Not for you ? TBH I thought it was the same.

Yes, the hinges just unbolt from the floor. Right (40%)side has one hinge, left (60%) has two.
  • eh im anti-gutted interior, i wouldnt care if it got me a 10 second qtr mile pass lol but when it is purposeful (in the case of needing space for work materials) then i guess its ok, just PLEASE do it tastefully. i personally would just flip the seats down. how much more room do you gain taking it all out?
