door wont open!

my right rear door will not open! inner and outer handles dont work and even a lil brute force wouldnt do the trick so looks like the door panel is gunna have to come off but WTF do i do frm there

Can you tell if the locking mechanism is actually unlocking?? You're gonn have a fun time trying to get that door panel off with the door closed. I'd pull the door latch cover on the inside and see if you can pull the door open lever bar manually as well as the lock/unlock bar too.

My buddys wouldn't open from the outside and then he pushed the child safety and now it won't open at all

I know its gunna b tough, considering there's usually a screw or two in the door jam to unscrew, but thanx for the ideas

I had the same problem when I stripped down the driver's rear door to paint it. I put it all back together, and proceeded to shut the damned thing without checking everything first. Turned out to be the actual door opening linkage that wasn't routed quite perfectly. It wasn't pulling the latch mechanism far enough to pop the latch. I was able to pull the inner door panel off with the door shut. I think there' was just the 1 single screw in the door jamb area at the back of the door that had to be "pulled" free.

Wow, my passenger side rear door is the same - won't budge from inside or out. Door lock only wants to come up 1/2 way. Were you able to get it?

I was thinking, what about taking off the bolts that hold that door hinges on?

mine does that sometimes when it's parked for many weeks in the winter... if I work the lock up and down, up and down a bunch of times, it loosens up and everything works again.

I'll try that, thanks John. Hopefully it's that easy...but I doubt in my case it will be.

Edit: 4 minutes of up/down with the lock got it.

k so finally after months of misery and confusion vctory! the door opens from inside and out! so we couldnt take the door panel off so we took the handle cover off and we could see the handle wasnt pulling enough to open the door so we tried to unbolt door off hinges which didnt give us more than an inch to wedge our fingers and pull off door panel and was all history! a lil wd 40 moved the door lock a lil further for a tighter pull, and i dont have to load my son thru the window anymore! any luck on ur door dub?
