So i have a D-series engine question. Head vs Block

Ok heres whats been going on I got a D1616 head in its on a D15b2 block
Im runing the DPFI with the d15b2's Dizzy. with stock ecu.

Now ive been told that all its need to get runing right is the d16a6's timeing belt and it ready to go its this true?

Or will i need to invest in a cam gear and do some fine tuneing?

Also will in need to get a d16 dizzy or will the stock one work? :?

wow thats a wierd combo.... keep the stock dpfi dizzy infact the only way the a6 dizzy will work is if u wire it in and if your going that far u might as well multipoint the car. as far as timing belt im not sure if u have them both see which one fits better and check TDC......

I believe all the timing belt on both of those motors are the same, should be able to use either one.
  • timing belt is different between these two by 1 tooth. did this a while ago with mpfi, but with same block and head. if the a6 head is 88 then you use the 1.5l cam gear, if it is 89-91 then you use the 1.6l cam gear. which ever cam gear you use, use the corresponding belt. all you actually have to do is swap the cam, and rocker arm assembly from the a6 head over. you'll get an additional 11 hp from this swap. the heads are the same cast, its just the cam that gives the power. there is a huge write up on d-series.org if you want to check it out about a6 cams with this or that block combo. hope this helps
