A/C Fan clicking...driving me NUTS!!

So...I have a '91 RT 4wd Manual Wagon with A/C. For some reason, when the cooling fan on the drivers side turns on (the yellowish one), it makes a clicking noise if the car is at idle. I replaced the fan, and the noise continues with the new one. If I rev the car to say 1,100 or higher, the clicking sounds stops, but at low idle speeds, it clicks. Sounds like a bug zapper or a baseball card in bicycle wheel spokes. The local tire shop told me that I needed a new fan motor because the bearings were shot, so I went out and get another one at the junk yard. What are the chances? Is this a common problem with these cars?

HELP!!
